South Carolina Cop to Be Charged with Murder for Shooting Man 8 Times in the Back as He Ran Away

Screen Shot 2015-04-07 at 8.41.07 PM

The officer, Michael T. Slager, 33, said he had feared for his life because the man had taken his stun gun in a scuffle after a traffic stop on Saturday. A video, however, shows the officer firing eight times as the man, Walter L. Scott, 50, fled. The North Charleston mayor announced the state charges at a news conference Tuesday evening.

The video, which was taken by a bystander and provided to The New York Times by the Scott family’s lawyer, presents a different account. The video begins in the vacant lot, apparently moments after Officer Slager fired his Taser. Wires, which carry the electrical current from the stun gun, appear to be extending from Mr. Scott’s body as the two men tussle and Mr. Scott turns to run.

Something — it is not clear whether it is the stun gun — is either tossed or knocked to the ground behind the two men, and Officer Slager draws his gun, the video shows. When the officer fires, Mr. Scott appears to be 15 to 20 feet away and fleeing. He falls after the last of eight shots.

The officer then runs back toward where the initial scuffle occurred and picks something up off the ground. Moments later, he drops an object near Mr. Scott’s body, the video shows.

– From the New York Times article: South Carolina Officer Is Charged With Murder in Black Man’s Death

The video at the end of this story is really hard to watch. Not just because we see a police officer gunning down a man as he ran away, but because he repeatedly yells at a dead body to “put his hands behind his back,” and then seemingly plants his taser by the corpse to cover up the crime.

Just like with banker theft, unless people are held accountable with serious jail time, the criminality will not only continue, it will get worse. The rule of law must be restored and applied equally to the rich and powerful, or we are truly doomed as a society.

Coincidentally, this horrific incident came to light on the same day I posted that: U.S. Police Kill More Civilians in March than UK Police Killed in 100 Years.

U.S. Police Kill More Civilians in March than UK Police Killed in 100 Years

The following statistics seem impossible to believe. While I wonder how accurately the UK has been tracking these numbers historically, the enormous spread seems much too large to ignore, and is a national embarrassment that should be dealt with immediately.

57-Year-Old Michigan Man Beaten to a Bloody Pulp by Police Officer Known as “RoboCop” for Running a Red Light

Screen Shot 2015-03-31 at 10.49.43 AM

Dent opened his door and was dragged out of his Cadillac; almost immediately, Melendez put him in a chokehold. Melendez then proceeded to deliver 16 blows to Dent’s temple. This all took place in about 15 seconds. Another officer arrived moments later and proceeded to use a taser stun gun against Dent, three times. In the video, Dent, with blood dripping from his forehead and cheek, appears not to be resisting Melendez’s efforts to arrest him.

Melendez’s record shows he has faced similar allegations before. At one point, he garnered more citizen complaints than any officer in Detroit, where he started his career in 1993 and served until his resignation in 2009. He entered Inkster’s police force a year later.

Over nearly two decades, Melendez has been named as a defendant in a dozen federal lawsuits, accused of planting evidence, wrongfully killing unarmed civilians, falsifying police reports and conducting illegal arrests. Some suits were settled out of court. Others were dismissed.

In 1996, Melendez, who was known in Detroit as “RoboCop”, and his partner shot and killed Lou Adkins. While Adkins was on the ground, several witnesses said the officers shot him 11 times, according to the Detroit Free Press. The case was settled for $1.05m, court records show.

– From the Guardian article: How a Traffic Stop Left a Michigan Man Beaten, Bloodied and Bitter at Police

Michigan police officer William Melendez has a sordid reputation. Amongst other things, he has come to be known as “Robocop” for his shady and often violent behavior. Additionally, he was “cited as the ringleader of numerous officers indicted by a federal grand jury in 2003 on civil rights violations.”

In contrast, Detroit native Floyd Dent worked at Ford for 37-years, has no criminal record and seems to be a decent and thoughtful citizen. He just happens to be black, driving at night, and had the unfortunate experience of running into William “Robocop” Melendez on the evening of January 28, 2015.

One of these individuals should be behind bars for a very long time, and one of them shouldn’t.

Meet Jason Villalba – The Texas State Representative Who Introduced a Bill that Criminalizes Citizens Filming Police

Screen Shot 2015-03-16 at 11.58.16 AMSomething I hope to encourage readers of Liberty Blitzkrieg to become aware of is their civil rights. Although the situation seems to have improved in recent years, many citizens remain woefully ignorant of their individual rights. Rights that were intentionally enshrined in the U.S. Constitution specifically to prevent the emergence of tyranny.

In our ever-changing modern technological world, the application of the Bill of Rights from time to time has needed a bit of clarification from the court system. One example of such was the 2011 case of Glik v. Cunniffe, in which the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit noted that: “videotaping of public officials is an exercise of First Amendment liberties.”

Caught on Video – LAPD Guns Down Homeless Man in Broad Daylight

Screen Shot 2015-01-30 at 12.44.27 PMThe following video of LAPD officers gunning down a homeless man in broad daylight is rightly getting a lot of attention. It’s not as if it was one officer dealing with a dangerous situation who panicked. There was a mob of police officers surrounding the victim, and rather than dealing with the situation like courageous, decent adults, they went ahead and treated the man like target practice. As we see with oligarch theft, this is the sort of thing you can expect more of when certain above-the-law groups in society fail to be held accountable for their actions.

WARNING: Graphic material and explicit language.

Absolutely disgusting.

Protecting and Serving – Florida Police Raid 90-Year-Old Woman’s Home; Find No Drugs but Wreck Home

Screen Shot 2015-02-18 at 11.57.01 AMI’ve taken some time off from covering excessive police violence and theft over the past few months after spending considerable energy on the topic in 2014. Nevertheless, the issue is of huge importance not only to the innocent people directly victimized by such behavior, but also to our society at large. I went into some of the reasons why this is the case recently in the post, Introducing “Physician Dispensing” – The Latest Troubling Medical Industry Scam. Here’s an excerpt:

The goal of the oligarchy is to corrupt as many useful idiots as possible, thus creating a culture of corruption so engrained it becomes virtually impossible to reverse. A great example of this relates to the plight of John Kiriakou, the only person imprisoned for CIA torture, because he was the one who blew the whistle on it. By creating these perverse incentives, you create a completely perverse society over time. The results are all around us.

Once the corruption reaches a certain level of societal saturation, you create a culture in which people simply stop trusting everyone and everything. For obvious reasons, this is a very dangerous development. There are people whom you need to trust for any civilization to function reasonably well. Police are one example…

What 4th Amendment? Police Across the U.S. Are Using Radars to See Inside People’s Homes

Screen Shot 2015-01-20 at 11.49.17 AMThe intentional erosion of public privacy is no accident. It’s not merely a simplistically stupid overreaction to the dangerous world we live in either. It is a very deliberate and nefarious plan being intentionally implemented by the American oligarchy; i.e., the super rich and the super powerful. This is precisely why the establishment freaked out about the Edward Snowden revelations, and it is why every single minor event is immediately manipulated into an excuse to give the government and intelligence agencies more power.

While we already know a lot about the NSA’s unconstitutional and fascist policies when it comes to the web, the decimation of the 4th Amendment is also being eagerly practiced at a more local level by police departments across the country. USA Today published a very important article on this topic earlier today. Here are some excerpts:

WASHINGTON — At least 50 U.S. law enforcement agencies have secretly equipped their officers with radar devices that allow them to effectively peer through the walls of houses to see whether anyone is inside, a practice raising new concerns about the extent of government surveillance.

A Father Talks with His Son About Eric Garner

Screen Shot 2014-12-11 at 12.46.46 PMI hate that I have to teach my children to be vigilant when it comes to the police. My overall message is that they should be respectful, but to never trust them.

Imagine a group of people surrounding someone who isn’t doing anything violent or disruptive. All this person wants is to be left alone and mind his own business. The gang surrounding him, instead of minding its own business, jumps on him, chokes him, and then proceeds to smother him against the concrete until he dies. If you haven’t already figured it out, this really did happen. To Eric Garner. On July 17th, 2014 he was choked to death while attempting to have a conversation with the police.

Florida Cop Rapes 20-Year Old Woman at Gunpoint While on Duty

Screen Shot 2014-10-27 at 11.40.06 AMBoynton Beach police officer has been arrested after he allegedly raped a 20-year-old woman at gunpoint while he was on duty, police said.

Officer Stephen J. Maiorino, an eight-year veteran of the department who was in an episode of the TV show “Cops” in 2010, turned himself in to the Palm Beach County Jail on Thursday. He is now on unpaid administrative leave and “will be fired,” Police Chief Jeffrey Katz said.

Although I’ve spent a lot of time highlighting the incredibly insane and immoral actions of a militarized American police force for several years, this week has featured some particularly ghastly accounts.

It all started on Monday with the post: To Protect and Perve – California Cops Share Nude Photos Stolen from Citizens’ Cellphones.

While that post was bad enough, it was followed up just days later with something far, far worse in the piece: Video of the Day – Watch as 8 Police Officers Fire 46 Shots and Kill a Homeless Man in Broad Daylight. In that article, I warned:

Video of the Day – NYPD Officer Steals Brooklyn Man’s Money Then Pepper Sprays Him

Screen Shot 2014-10-09 at 4.49.26 PMEarlier this week, I highlighted the growing practice of police stealing American citizens’ hard earned cash with reckless abandon via the shady practice known as “civil asset forfeiture” in the extremely popular post: “Common People Do Not Carry This Much U.S. Currency…” – This is How Police Justify Stealing American Citizens’ Money.

While that post focused on how cops confiscate cash from motorists on the road, it appears the NYPD prefers to do its work on street corners. Like what happened to Lamard Joye in Coney Island, Brooklyn last month. The New York Daily News reports that:

The Brooklyn district attorney’s office is investigating allegations that an NYPD cop swiped more than $1,000 from a man during a stop-and-frisk, then pepper-sprayed him and his sister when they complained, the Daily News has learned.
