  1. Essentially the Democrats will try to win on gun control but that will backfire (no pun intended). They will wake up the disenchanted Trump voters who dumped their support because of Syria. I don’t want gun control and though i don’t vote, i don’t want democrats to push that agenda. They should be anti war but their pockets are lined with big defense and the Israeli lobby as much as the Republicans’.

  2. American politics have come down to a battle of who can suppress nausea and hold their noses better.

The Dems have three aims: identity politics, gun control, and warmongering.

The Repubs have a few aims of their own, mostly yapping about domestic issues, only to ignore them in office and focus solely on military intervention, and pretending the Dems are peaceniks. All this warmongering is strictly for defense, you see.

Both sides love the banksters, which goes without saying.

If you’re a lefty who wants to focus on poverty and ending wars, you’re out in the cold. If you’re a righty who wants to MAGA and end the wars, you’re out in the cold. If you, in any way, dislike a highly financialized economy with a few big banks running the show, you’re in the cold regardless of your leanings.

Expect voter apathy to continue unabated. Also expect any attempts for third party progress to be met with unyielding hostility from the established duopoly. Congress is just for show nowadays, most of the power seems to lie with the executive branch. Even if you get an “outsider” like Trump in the Oval Office, expect them to follow the established script.

  3. The financial sector represents only 7% of the U.S. economy but takes around 25% of all corporate profit while creating only 4% of all jobs.

The Rise of Finance and the Fall of American Business – RAI with Rana Foroohar (1/6)
    May 9, 2018

On Reality Asserts Itself, Ms. Foroohar says financialization delivers stagnant wages, inequality and economic crisis; the Financial Times columnist and author of “Makers and Takers” says the financial sector represents only 7 percent of the U.S. economy, but takes around 25 percent of all corporate profit while creating only 4 percent of all jobs – with host Paul Jay

  4. “This party exists to lose”

Mike, BOTH parties seem to exist to lose. It’s more than slightly amazing to me, but they really are both that out of touch with their bases.
