Four Pillars for a Better Future: Knowledge, Consciousness, Innovation, Local Action – Part 2

Yesterday’s post covered two foundational pillars for creating a better paradigm for humanity, knowledge and consciousness. Knowledge is key because if we don’t know how the world really works and how we’re systemically being preyed upon, there’s no incentive to get to work changing things. Consciousness is also critical, because knowledge without wisdom, thoughtfulness and heightened awareness will simply result in a destructive and counterproductive revolution after which we’ll find ourselves back in the exact same place.

Let’s now move on to exploring one of the avenues by which we can manifest consciousness in the physical reality.

Innovation

It’s impossible to look at how much the world’s changed since the advent of the internet and social media and not recognize the colossal impact of innovation and technology on how human affairs are conducted. The inescapable impact of technology has led to a split amongst many of us. Some are completely terrified of what’s to come. Robots, AI, driverless cars, crypto assets…it all seems so overwhelming and dystopian to many.

In contrast, there are those who swear technological advancements will invariably lead to a utopia that can free humanity from the drudgery of bullshit jobs and other tedious tasks, allowing us to focus on the higher nature of what makes us human. In other words, we shall soon see a manifestation of the world John Adams dreamed of thanks to innovation.

I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study painting and poetry mathematics and philosophy. My sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history, naval architecture, navigation, commerce and agriculture, in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry and porcelain.

The truth is it could go either way. We could end up in a dystopian nightmare in which a handful of oligarchs control advanced technology and use it to subjugate the masses, or we could go in the opposite direction. Personally, I’m optimistic and fully dedicated to doing my part to ensure we use new technologies to free and empower humanity. This is another reason why consciousness is so important. A conscious population will use tools the right way, while an unconscious one will be viciously and willingly subjugated by them.

This is precisely why I’ve been such a passionate supporter of Bitcoin from the moment I first learned about it. Put aside your biases for a minute and try to objectively analyze some of the key components of the protocol.

There’s decentralization, which makes it virtually impossible to shut down. Open source code, which keeps it transparent and free to all. Governance by anarchy in which no one’s in charge; there’s no CEO, board of directors, etc. Then there are the monetary qualities, a transparent supply curve that’s capped at 21 million.

If you think about all these attributes, you’ll quickly realize that Bitcoin is everything the external world is not. You don’t have to put your trust in anybody, which is a really good thing because humans are generally not trustworthy — particularly those who attain great power. Bitcoin is the most significant red pill ever created.

As someone named Mark so accurately summed up earlier today on Twitter:

He’s right, but there’s so much more to it. For example, imagine if internet giants like Google,Twitter and Facebook ran on open source code like Bitcoin does. This would make it far more difficult for them to do all the shady, opaque stuff we all know they’re doing. We wouldn’t have to theorize about shadow banning and censorship since we could take a look at the code and try to figure out what they’re up to. Moreover, imagine if these companies were decentralized like Bitcoin, without a CEO and management calling all the shots. It’d be a lot harder for politicians to threaten them behind the scenes and pressure them to adjust their algorithms in nefarious ways.

As I noted earlier today:

What Bitcoin does, by the very nature of the protocol itself, is force us to question many of the preconceived and false notions we have about how human affairs should be organized, from governance and money to communication in general. It’s the application of all sorts of revolutionary theories into real life via a voluntary and extraordinarily disruptive alternative system. We’re taught that we need topdown, centralized systems in which we trust technocrats, “experts” and politicians to do the right thing, but this path leads to ruin and tyranny. We need to discard that way of thinking forever.

Technology isn’t good or evil, it just is. A conscious people will come up with conscious technologies that benefit mankind. Everything is connected. The collective output of human consciousness on earth will create our reality, which is why it’s so crucial for us to also focus on our personal development and take responsibility for each action we take and thought we think.

The next post in this series will examine the importance of local action.

  1. Hi Michael, in principle I adhere to your suggestion of decentralisation and the promotion of Bitcoin.

However, I just recently came across aan article that had me a little worried about Bitcoin. The article “Evidence points to Bitcoin being an NSA-engineered psyop to roll out one-world digital currency” gives some credible arguments why this could be the case, in my opinion.

    See:
    https://www.naturalnews.com/2017-12-10-evidence-points-to-bitcoin-being-an-nsa-psyop-roll-out-one-world-digital-currency.html

So I guess my question is: could this be true?

    Kind regards,
    Mason

  3. Well Mike, I am 8n agreement with you that the Fed, surveillance state, and fraudulent 2 party system are not happy about relinquishing their tyrranical stranglehold and oppression. Most people are oblivious to the fact that the Fed relies on fraudulent math. My Dad majored in economics, and we used to discuss the economy and politics during meals every day. I also recieved an A in economics, and never learned the truth about h9w fraudulent the Fed is until I had read, ” The Web of Debt and the Shocking Truth About Our Money System and How We Can Break Free” by by Ellen Hodgson Brown JD.

I intend to continue to expose them for the frauds and thieves that they are.

  4. Spiral Dynamics – How to raise our collective consciousness: Possible solutions from Psychohistory.

Increasing the collective consciousness to the yellow layer and above is very important, but the big question is how to actually do it.
I’ve recently read alot of Psychohistory, primarily Lloyd deMause’s work, and I think it provides important insights on how this could be done.

I highly recommend reading “The Origins of War in Child Abuse”, freely available here:
http://psychohistory.com/books/the-origins-of-war-in-child-abuse/ (The emotional life of nations and Reagan’s America are decent follow up reads)

Independently of Spiral dynamics this provides alot of insights into the functioning of society and culture in general and, I think, is important to know for anyone interested in any of the following:
Politics, Culture, Society, Psychology, Parenting, War, what the root of violence is, how to judge how healthy people and cultures are, etc.

Anyway in brief what psychohistory found is that parenting has evolved of the course of history, slowly becoming less and less abusive. They distinguish different parenting modes based on that, which in turn create different “psycho-classes” of people which build different basic cultures.
What I’ve noticed here is that these psycho-classes heavily overlap with the layers of consciousness described in Spiral Dynamics. Both in description and in the historical timelines they occured.

For example [spiral dynamics layer color vs parenting mode]:
purple & infanticidal mode & abandoning mode?: Both result in tribal societies.
blue layer & ambivalent made & abandoning mode?: both share the appearence of the first big societies. Harsh law and order honor societies, on the lower end theocratic societies, at the upper end secular dictatorships.
orange layer & intrusive mode: both are currently dominant modes of society, both share capitalism and the age of enlightenment.
green layer & socializing mode: both are currently dominant modes of society and became so in the last few decades.
yellow layer & helping mode: Both of those are very recent and appeared appeared in the 20th century. Both of those have in common the disappearance of irrational fears.

Now seeing how much these overlap both in historical timelines and by description I highly doubt that’s a coincidence. Most likely Spiral dynamics and Psychohistorians observed the same phenomenon from different angles.
If that is true that means the solution to raising the collective consciousness is to improve parenting to the helping mode (and above). Specifically that would mean no child abuse, no abandonment, no emotional manipulation but parents respecting their children’s individuality and giving them enough attention, hugs etc. and supporting them in developing in the areas they naturally want to instead of trying to push them into a specific outcome. Your choice as a parent is a healthy or an unhealthy version of whatever your child naturally is, not turning it into X. Trying to turn your child into X will always give you a more unhealthy version of your child.
The helping mode is a low stress mode of parenting for the child (all forms of abuse and neglect result in higher cortisol).
This lines up with other studies on what stress does to the brain and psychological health. Basically the higher stress is during critical brain development the stronger the reptile brain gets and the weaker all higher human brain functions become (primarily neocortex brain regions). There’s lots of studies that show this, from direct brain scans that show this activity shift to correlations in humans with more abusive childhoods and less developed brain regions, lower IQ, more drug addiction, crime and viloence, to all kinds of stress animals during pregnancy studies like loud noises, electroshocks, injecting cortisol, preventing the mother animal from licking/petting it’s offspring. All of those have higher cortisol in common and all of those have shown psychotic behaviour in anmials.
The youtube presentation “The bomb in the brain” by stephan molyneux provides a good overview about that, so I recommend looking at that aswell. Regardless of what you think about orange layer Molyneux and his libertarian views he did to a good job in this video and his parenting videos in general, so i recommend that aswell.

    What everyone can personally do:
    1) Spread this knowledge to all the people especially parents that you know.
    2) Identify people’s parenting modes. Especially your own and the ones of all the parents you know. Try to shift it to a less abusive and more helping mode like behaviour if they aren’t at the helping mode
    3) Donate to institutions/charities that promote peaceful/helping mode like parenting. Focus on those that actually go out there and educate and assist parents. Unfortunately I don’t have a list of good charities yet, but if you know the correct parenting style you should be able to identify which ones are working towards the right goal.

I intend to add this comment to a few of your articles, so more people will see it. So I apologise in advance for the spam.

  5. Well written! I got into bitcoin precisely because it is our best chance since the Articles of Confederation for decentralization. However, I am guilty of using social media to show the immorality of statism. My statist friends hardly respond to my communication. I think it’s possible that by getting into cryptocurrency they are gradually voluntarily and willfully learning about the virtue of decentralization and learning of the immorality of statism. It’s ironic that innovation itself is more persuasive than philosophical outreach. But I certainly welcome that path to create more voluntaryists. “You cannot lead a horse to water.”

  7. Michael,

I agree with the generality of how Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies have eduacated the population to another way of doing things. However, I think the emphasis on Bitcoin is wasting resources on finding (or simply endorsing) the real solution.

For a transaction to be validated, there are 3 basic methods:
    1) Have a 3rd party with authority validate it (ie, Visa, JP Morgan, Paypal). The present system
    2) Have a transaction be validated through “proof of work”, and expensive, complex calculation. The Bitcoin method. Due to economies of scale, *centralization* is a natural byproduct. Does this look like decentralization: https://www.buybitcoinworldwide.com/mining/pools/
    3) Have many low-powered computers perform a simpler calculation. This is the model that will topple bitcoin. This model is what allows Yelp, Amazon, and Ebay to be successful. Do you pick a restaurant because a food critic liked it, or because 100 peopel gave it 4 stars? Do you trust a product because you read a dozen or more reviews on Amazon or because you subscribe to Consumer Reports? Do you buy items at a big box store or save money by buying from an EBAY vendor you’ve never heard of with 99% positive reviews? It also led to Google’s (initial) success: their search engine prioritized links that other people searching for the same thing preferred.

In terms of monetary properties: a fixed monetary supply is not a good thing, because an important trait of money is that it must have stable value. this is impossible if the money supply is fixed but populations (and thereofre economies) are growing. This is the root cause of defaltion. (Of course, there are problems with the FED model as well).

The last problem with bitcoin is the slow transaction speed. Again, this is becuase of Bitcoin’s *centralized* validation (mining) method that relies on a few powerful computers. Instead of having 1 computer perform 10,000 calculations, it is much faster to have 1000 computers perform 10 calculations.

    • Genaro,

Thanks for the link. I read the whitepaper. It looks like TenX mainly offers an exchange service (wallet): a way to spend you BTC, etc. on everyday items.

They claim “instant” transaction speed, but that seems to be a bit misleading. By time they get to payment flow on page 21, the big problem arises:

“4. The user will then choose which blockchain asset to use for the payment and send the correct amount to TenX through the COMIT network
      5. ***Upon receiving the corresponding amount for the invoice,**** TenX will authorize the payment to the merchant .”

In other words, the only thing instant is the transaction between the merchant and TenX, but TenX won’t pay the merchant until your crypto currency transaction with TenX is approved – which takes place at the exact same rate as any other cryptocurrency transaction (unless I’m missing something). So TenX makes the transaction simpler for the consumer, but not any faster. TenX transaction speed is built on top of the native cryptocurrency transaction speed.

On a side note, based on their Initial Token Offering of 51% = 200,000 ETH, they are valuing their start-up at ~$400 million…

Hmm, I guess it is still proof of concept, but there do seem to be some issues. For starters:
“It still only exists in this payment channel and lightning network. Yet, due to the nature of the lightning protocol, Blockstream isn’t at risk of payment default. They own the satoshis, and there’s nothing I can do to get them back…Blockstream being the dreaded Trusted Third Party”

So basically, it’s almost like their is a second cryptocurreny (let’s call it call it Blockstream Coin, or BSC). Intrenally in the BSC network, transaction get approved when 6 nodes validate them. 6 seems like a small number, but this is proof-of-concept stage. I guess I coul see how this would work simialr to Paypay, where basicallly you have “PayPal Funds”, which are indistiguishable from a PayPal cryptocurrency. The difference would be that instead of PayPal verifying the transaction, you have 6 BSC nodes performign the validation.

  8. Michael,
I searched for your on minds.com and see you don’t have a profile yet.. You should check it out for it has two of the components you discussed. (1) Open source social media platform and (2) crypto currencies.
