Is There a Coup Attempt Underway in America?

Personally, I’m horrified by the fact that Goldman Sachs goons are in total control of the Trump administration’s economic policy. I’m also horrified that our new President’s first overseas trip will be to the terrorist state of Saudi Arabia, a autocratic, brutal monarchy with undeniable ties to 9/11. I’m likewise disgusted by Attorney General Jefferson Sessions’ oppressive and uncivilized relaunch of the misguided and disastrous “war on drugs.” Finally, I’m very troubled by the fact Mike Flynn attempted to disrupt a military operation using Syrian Kurds to rout ISIS in Raqqa because Turkey didn’t like it, given he was working as a paid agent of Turkey months earlier and never disclosed it.

There are a plethora of things to be deeply concerned about when it comes to Trump, yet the coup attempt against him being launched by elements of the deep state, corporate media and Hillary dead-ender Democrats is more concerning still. It’s obvious what’s happening right now is not a sincere attempt to hold a President accountable, or fight him on policy or personnel choices. Rather, this all seems to be a very deliberate and premeditated attempt to remove him from office.

What’s so troubling about what I just wrote is not so much that I think it, but that it’s becoming accepted truth by a growing number of mainstream Americans. For example, can you believe CNBC actually published a post with the following title?

Here are a few excerpts from the piece:

There is, indeed, a bombshell of a story coming out of the news that President Donald Trump revealed sensitive information during his White House meeting with Russian officials last week. But it’s not that President Trump committed any crime. The really alarming news is that the duly-elected President of the United States appears to be the target of a political coup.

First, let’s be clear: President Trump has been sloppy, arrogant, and just plain misguided plenty of times during his short tenure in office — including the way he handled the firing of FBI Director James Comey and the hiring and firing of National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. And if he did unnecessarily compromise the source of the sensitive information he shared with the Russians, shame on him.

But a president cannot be removed from office for arrogance and sloppiness…

Here’s the kicker: None of this is actually working where it counts. Again, we have not one piece of evidence of any impeachable act. And it’s not even truly working in the polls. President Trump’s approval ratings may be lower than any modern president this early in his tenure, but they’re still higher than they were throughout the election. If anything, these constant attacks coming from this obviously angry and potentially illegal place are only strengthening the resolve of Trump’s base of supporters. They elected a guy they believed was truly the enemy of the established political class. And right on cue, the established political class is stopping at nothing to prove them right.

For all the things President Trump has said that have dragged down the level of our American political discourse, this sustained takedown effort is worse. And it’s not clear how this is going to end. Unlike President Trump, the leakers remain anonymous and thus unaccountable. They can presumably go on forever. And President Trump doesn’t seem like he’s going to stop fighting back or irritating and threatening his political opponents.

But don’t fool yourself into thinking this is OK or even tolerable. The bottom line is that we have some very powerful people in Washington who really don’t like how democracy played out this time around and what they do to attack it next isn’t going to be any better than what they’re doing now.

Luckily the American people remain wisely circumspect about all of this. President Trump’s polls aside, the voters are still giving him a decent shot to govern. And unaccountable people in Washington shouldn’t be trying to make that decision for us.

Once again, I want to remind you the above was published at CNBC. Sure it’s a vapid Wall Street oligarch-worshipping rag, but it’s still pretty mainstream.

Moreover, it’s not just CNBC writers and obscure bloggers such as myself who are coming to these sorts of conclusions.

For example, listen closely to what Dennis Kucinich had to say on the topic in a recent interview.

I agree with Dennis completely, and another troubling aspect of all this is that the hysteria incessantly being driven by the corporate press in its attempt to destroy Trump is distracting attention away from genuine scandals. For example, yesterday’s McClatchy story on Mike Flynn’s undisclosed work as a agent of Turkey, and how that may have influenced his foreign policy recommendations appears to be a very real and extremely concerning scandal. Yet it gets buried in the hyperbole and hysteria, and millions of people end up tuning everything out.

The road we’re headed down is unhealthy, counterproductive and extremely dangerous. As is typically the case, you can thank the corporate press.

  1. Hey Michael. As always, thanks for the post. I do have a question tho. re “the leakers remain anonymous and thus unaccountable”. Give what our country seems to do to whistle blowers, wouldn’t you expect them to remain anonymous (if real)?

    • Hi Eric, and thanks for your comment.

A couple of things. First, that was from the CNBC article, so they weren’t my words. I agree that anonymity for whistleblowers can be very important, especially when people are taking great risks to inform the public at great expense. In my opinion, that’s not what’s happening here for the most part. The leaks seems to be emanating from Congresspeople and intel agents who are looking to take out Trump with these leaks, and want to be anonymous so that people can’t see the agendas at play, which might become obvious if we knew who was behind them.

I’d also note that the most significant and patriotic whistleblower of my generation Edward Snowden, came public almost immediately. I think that was the right move and allowed the public more information on the event so that we can all come to our own conclusions about his motives, which unlike most of the current leaks, I believe were altruistic in nature.

  2. The Assault on Trump

    Paul Craig Roberts

We are witnessing an assault by the national security state and its liberal media on a President of the United States that is unprecedented.

Wild and unsupported accusations of treasonous or illegal Russian connections have been the mainstay of the news since Trump’s campaign for president. These accusations have reached the point that there is an impeachment movement driven by the national security state and its liberal media and endorsed by Democrats, the American leftwing which has turned against the working class as “Trump deplorables,” and luminaries such as Harvard Law Professor Larry Tribe. The Washington Post, which was not present at the meeting of President Trump with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov, purports to know that Trump gave Lavrov US national security information.

The Russian government has offered the presstitute media a transcript of the meeting, but, of course, the pressitutes are not interested.

The US military/security complex sits on a budget extracted from very hard-pressed American taxpayers of $1,000 billion dollars annually. By threatening to normalize relations with the enemy which was created in order to justify this vast budget, Trump presented as the major threat to the American National Security State’s power and profit.

This is why Trump will be broken and/or removed as President of the United States.

Once again democracy in American is proving to be powerless. There is no one in Washington who can help Trump. Those who could help him, such as myself, cannot be confirmed by the US Senate, which is owned lock, stock, and barrel by the military/security complex, Wall Street, and the Israel Lobby.

Trump tried to connect the suffering American people to their government, an act of treason against the oligarchy, who are making an example of Trump that will dissuade politicians in the future from making populist appeals to the people.

    • I think this article sums up the lengths to which the Continuity of Government agencies will go to. My only concern with the article is why the CIA would get the FBI and Comey to do their dirty work other than jurisdiction perhaps?. I doubt that this subterfuge is Russian counter espionage as what would be the purpose if the FSB were caught out trying to frame the CIA as any propaganda gain from such a plot would quickly backfire making the ‘Russian hack” meme much stronger should this be found to be a Russian propaganda plant.

  3. The sooner more of the American people see the truth of the power and control mechanisms the politicos and their handlers serve the sooner more Americans will begin to demand change and come together to enact those changes. Let the politicos play their power games for all to see and point this out to those who can’t see. Who really cares if Trump is removed from office other than as prime example as to the ludicrous state of illusory democracy in which the majority have been disenfranchised from any decision making anyway. I say let them tear their playhouse down and help them to do it if we can.

  4. “yet the coup attempt against him being launched by elements of the deep state”

Keyword there being “elements” of the deep state.

There’s a battle going on within the 2 now divided factions of the deep state for control. Notice how much more BS hit the fan right after the Kissinger visit on the same day as the visit from the Russian Ambassador. Both visits the day after he fired Comey.

None of that is a coincidence and all of this is now so far out in the open that it’s worrisome.

Everything that Congressman Larry McDonald said has come to fruition. Just like Ron Paul, he was written off as a “Kook” by both sides of the aisle. Which is always a sure sign that someone is telling the truth.

    Buckle up!

  5. Meanwhile, Trump bombed Syria today. I’m not convinced this isn’t just a show. Is the deep state really against Trump? Or is it just like the “two” parties, Rep/Dems? Two sides of one coin. I’m really not sure what is going on here.

I did read something interesting that may shed some light on this situation: 1. “KIRIAKOU: That was actually a very serious rule when I was at the CIA. You can’t trust anybody. You have to assume that everybody in the intelligence world is either working for another intelligence service, whether friendly or hostile, or they’re working in someone else’s interests. And so I adapted that to prison as well because either people are working for their gang or their gang leader or they’re working for the cops. So it was a constant reminder to be wary of others and of their motivations.”

    2. GOSZTOLA: Another rule that stuck out to me was, “Admit nothing, deny everything, make counteraccusations.”

KIRIAKOU: That rule was something of a joke at the CIA, but became a serious rule for me in prison

    3. GOSZTOLA: And then, “if stability is not to your benefit, chaos is your friend.”

    KIRIAKOU: Oh yeah.

When I read this, it all sounded extremely familiar.

    • My apologies if any offense was felt on your end. So sorry for my brain infarction as I do find your comments well thought out and interesting.

    • BRF,

I didn’t work for the CIA. This is an interview excerpt from John Kiriakou. He is the only person to be imprisoned concerning US torture–he was a whistleblower about it. He wrote a book about how the things the CIA taught him helped him make it through his prison time. It isn’t a flattering interview that he gives about himself.

I excerpted it here because some of these CIA rules seem to describe exactly what we are seeing play out in the US.

I truly wonder if Trump isn’t just part of the deep state chaos himself. As Michael pointed out in the post just before that, GS owns his administration. He’s attacked Syria, something Clinton and co wanted and he just sold the Saudis the most weapons ever. That doesn’t sound like a person who is in opposition to the deep state. He sounds like someone doing their bidding.

    • BRF, no offense taken. I’ve misread things just like this! I always feel badly about it but it just happens sometimes. Thank you for what you said. I feel the same way reading your ideas!

  6. I’ve been saying this since the firing of the State Dept people. Well balanced article. Unfortunately most people are unable to hold multiple opposing positions and make rational decisions.

  7. I’m gonna go out on a twig here and write that, even if there’s an impeachment or a “coup,” in the end nothing will come of it for the citizen (indentured servants) but that the revelation — the one that I am NOT “The People” and neither are you — will unfold even faster than it has of late years. Trump’s a CEO of the world’s most violently mighty & successful Corporation Sole, operator-owner of all the other incorporated and LLCs in its districted domains, currently running for decades under the Emergency Powers Acts, successor of the next most viscious Corporation Sole – Rome, whom the Masonic “Founding Fathers” vaulted to the heights of the Capitol Dome. And the legal “person” of the corporation, the respect given to it, as it was in many years of the Rome Empire, can do damn near anything it wants under its titles (e.g. perhaps Nixon was letting it slip when he said that when the president does it, it’s ok.) and exception. Try again if you don’t think the legal fights can and do give license to and exemption from the Law. Laws were made to be broken. Anyone else who attains the title can and WILL behave nearly in the same ways. “Same as it ever was!” Last fall Trump was the “Goon.” Now, It’s Goldman Sachs.

So why be “horrified”? Everyone’s trying to get their damn license and feel the love at the same time. I’m (not) sorry. But it never has and still doesn’t work this way. Ask your wife. It’s a mean-ass competition — for thousands of years. You do one or the other, but never both.

There’s just no morality in it.

Another thing: what exactly is the rhetorical device that everyone who blogs uses: The “Deep State”? Well, it’s deep — we know that — that’s obvious, and it’s the State. Of course! It’s the Deep State. We all know the Deep State.

The State, see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State — an organized community living under a single political structure and government, sovereign or constituent.

But, again, it not just The State, but it’s a deep one too. Probably too deep for our little minds. It’s “extending far down from the top or surface — http://www.dictionary.com/browse/deep (Under ambiguous see not defined).

So the “Deep State” is an ambiguous group of people living under a political structure (in a city, a polis) form of government; moreover, this ambiguous group of subjects living UNDER this political structure is far down from the top or surface of the government. We can’t see them as a group, not at least until the $48 hot dogs at Davos, but, even then we’re not sure it’s exactly the ones we’re after — nevertheless, we damn sure know they are there! (Governance is derived from the Latin word gubernare, meaning “to steer”, usually in the maritime sense.) [See: http://legaldictionary.thefreedictionary.com/gubernare%5D. + ment or mente = men or mind. [https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/-ment].

Is the “Deep State” group, or word for a group, the spelling magik that is has as spread as its purpose the steering of mens’ minds toward some other goal?

Who’s to blame? Ohhhh, those damn Deep State Agents, oooooh, of course! The words TPTB — the powers that be, replaced by Deep people. Let’s get ’em.

We LOVE our servitude. There’s so many benefits. So never you mind that it’s ME and YOU who volunteer our consent each and every day when we act in commerce with the devil and his masters. The devil’s not going to change his ways. So much shifting sympathy, and it’s such a pity that it is so.

    • So very true. All roads extending from the assault on Trump lead back to the Clintons and who they represent and while this assault is taking place the Clinton crimes are swept under the rug. Perhaps the majority of working (debt slave) Americans will begin to realize that they need to take up the torch of non violent revolution and again make another attempt to complete that revolution, the original strangled in its crib, to better perfect their Republic. Otherwise it really doesn’t matter a great deal who the President is or anyone else elected by the people as they are subject to the greater power of an unseen government by a plutocracy the original revolution sought to throw off but that has reasserted itself in leaps and bounds over the last 160 years resulting in what we see today which is a completely disenfranchised public in the running of their nation.

  8. The issues that “horrify” you about the Trump administration pale in comparison to issues of the previous administration: IRS use against political opponents, Benghazi lies, Obamacare lies, Clinton donations, uranium sale to Russia, Iran nuclear agreement, email crimes.

    • I wrote about most of those things constantly throughout his administration. What’s your point?

Obama’s no longer President in case you haven’t noticed.

    • So Pat. You know who you sound like?

The Democrats who defended Obama’s transgressions by pointing out all the transgressions of Bush.

Try not to be a simpleton, dude.

  10. Mar 20, 2017 Trump Embraces the Goldman Sachs Vampire Squid

It’s business as usual in Washington. Trump promised to drain the swamp. Instead, he is busy populating it with Goldman Sachs vampire squids. On this edition of The Geopolitical Report, we take a look at the outsized influence of the notorious global investment banking firm, its ability to navigate both Democrat and Republican administrations, and its disastrous effect on the economy as it socializes risk and pockets.
