Manufacturing Resistance – The American Public is Being Manipulated Into Irrelevance

No honest person could accuse me of being a Trump fan or supporter. I refused to back his candidacy despite my total disdain for Hillary Clinton and pretty much everything she stands for. More importantly, I’ve written a multitude of articles since he was inaugurated severely taking him to task on a wide variety of subjects. I’ve tirelessly discussed how he’s outsourced his economic policy to Goldman Sachs, and condemned his burgeoning neocon foreign policy, evidenced by his disturbing coziness with the autocratic barbarians of Saudi Arabia.

Nevertheless, the most incredible aspect of the past four months is not how much of a fake populist Trump’s proven to be, but how the corporate media’s managed to disgust me even more. I’m happy to become outraged at Trump, because I find many things about Trump outrageous. That said, I find it telling that the stuff about Trump that outrages me, is never the same stuff which outrages the corporate media. Why is that?

The reason is the corporate media doesn’t mind Goldman Sachs running U.S. economic policy. It also doesn’t mind a close alliance with the terrorist state of Saudi Arabia, or our government’s endless string of disastrous neocon wars abroad. In fact, when it comes to the latter, the corporate media is reliably the primary cheerleader for unprovoked militarism.

Following the election of Trump, an axis of evil in U.S. politics has formed consisting of the corporate media, neoliberal Democrats (Hillary cultists) and neocons. This alliance has one primary objective, which revolves around obsessing incessantly on a conspiracy theory that deflects attention away from the crimes of our very own domestic plutocrats, war mongers and rent-seekers (you know, the forces that are actually wrecking the country). Russia is the perfect outside enemy to rally ignorant rubes around in order to prevent any real progressive or centrist populism from ever gaining a foothold in U.S. politics. Unfortunately, thanks to the gullibility of the average American, their plan seems to be succeeding.

As I noted earlier today on Twitter:

The current environment is fertile ground for real populist movements to fight for an improvement in the lives of average Americans, but the public is being fooled into focusing all its energy on an unproven Russia collusion theory which hasn’t caused any of our very real national suffering. Our very own homegrown racketeers and thieves are to blame for that, but we’re being told to focus our attention on Russia. This isn’t an accident people, you’re being played, and played quite easily at that.

Ironically, “the resistance” is actually sucking all the air out of what should be real resistance. After spending a few months in the woods, Hillary is now actively moving to co-opt the entire movement. Why’s she doing that? I think she still covets the throne, and I think she’s power hungry and delusional enough to go for it.

Hillary’s positioning to run again, and there’s still no viable new third party. Even worse, there’s the naive and gullible Bernie Sanders still trying to “change Democrats from within,” a laughable and useless exercise. It’s unbelievably pathetic and disempowering, but it could get a lot worse. Brace yourselves for a few years of Hillary running around in leather jackets talking like a “populist” as she desperately attempts to reinvent herself. Our national nightmare is far from over.

Meanwhile, to all of you yapping incessantly about Russia, don’t complain in 2020 when you get a horrible corporate Democratic candidate and Trump wins. Even if you dodge the Hillary bullet, don’t expect for a second to get anyone decent nominated. The “resistance” is clueless and Trump has much better odds of a second term than ever being impeached. The Russia nonsense is all a carefully crafted distraction narrative to keep you stuck on the debt serf plantation and away from organizing genuine resistance. Keep it up, the plutocrats are laughing uncontrollably.

This is precisely why I reserve my most intense contempt for the corporate media. It’s quite intentionally focusing people’s attention on a still unproven theory that marginally affects their lives, compared to very real issues of economic misery and the neo-feudal world being institutionalized all around them. This is straight up evil. The corporate press is deliberately not focusing on things that really matter to people, and diverting mass attention to what is still just a conspiracy theory. If you have proof Trump is a Russian stooge, let’s see it. If not, then focus on the very serious issues that matter and helped elect Trump in the first place. The corporate media, neoliberal Dems and neocons are successfully diverting genuine angst and energy away from pressing economic concerns and toward a imperial geopolitical agenda that benefits the plutocrats and their ambitions. They are manufacturing resistance.

Yesterday’s Washington Post article accusing Trump of divulging classified intel to Russian officials is a perfect example of this. It’s been blown up as the biggest story in decades, yet I read it and basically shrugged. Imagine if the corporate press rallied this strongly against plutocracy, Wall Street and militarism? Imagine that. We might actually be able to help our fellow citizens who are struggling.

But no, the corporate press isn’t interested in doing that. It’s interested in keeping you stuck right where you are. Oppressed under a pile of debt and an absence of opportunity. It’s sad to watch people get manipulated so easily, but until people wake up and say enough, it’s only going to get worse.

    • Honest elections do not matter. Democracies have always failed because they, in the end, become a way for one group to to use the force and violence of government to take from others. Only the shrinkage of government involvement in our lives matters.

    • Honest Elections, without being offensive that is a waste of your time. It is long past time to think outside of the box for solutions. Things like a preplanned and premeditated world wide jubilee, tax revolt, refusal to pay any more debt. A complete movement of non-participation, one of which is planned, organized and prepared for over the course of at least two years. Community organization like never before. A bold and steadfast movement of non-compliance, stating that we will no longer be robbed of our production, we will no longer play their game. Thats what I’m talking about, and that or something like it is the only thing that will change this course.

    • I agree about the jubilee. See Michael Hudson on how this concept was written into the Old Testament. Or are we still cafeteria style with the OT?

    • The link to Micheal Hudson was an awesome read, very informative historical insight. Funny how the burden of debt has been with us for so long and how easy it is to see its detriment throughout society.
      Thanks Bart & Mike.

  1. I disagree with your conclusion, though I understand the sentiment. We can NOT vote our out of the situation we are in by just electing more of “the right people.” The cancer of progressivism has infected BOTH parties! The only way to change the dynamic and truly “drain the swamp” is to reinvigorate federalism. Since the Washington “elites” aren’t ever going to voluntarily relinquish any if their power, we need to amend the Constitution through a Article V Convention of the States.

The obvious amendment to reign in federal power is to pass term limits. I would certainly be in favor of that. However, I think, if nothing else, the most effective way to put teeth back into federalism (and the 10th Amendment) would be to repeal the 17th Amendment. More than anything else, the growth in federal power and bureaucracy is due to the direct election of Senators (especially the growth the the power of the judiciary). Article V is the only way to put the progressive genie back in the bottle. See conventionofstates.com for more information.

  2. Black Cat makes a very valid point.
Could it be that the mirage of ‘living standards never before seen in human history’ should also be consciously cleansed from the mind? A wrong view may lead to the debt trap. Surely a person’s goal should be to attain a state of contentment with the good things that planet Earth offers.

    • Right on Naresh, I believe your comment is a perfect description of how the majority of Americans are living wether they like it or not, conscious or unconscious. I run a business, work extremely hard, get to keep a fraction of what I gross, discontented in its entirety. I am constantly saying to my wife “we have to find a way out of this machine, its killing me” and I truly feel that the choices I make within this context is doing exactly that, but why? Because quiet frankly I am a human being who just wants to be truly free and live a simple life but the one I exist in the majority of the time is insane. Why do I feel contentment when I have the time to do Yoga, eat well, go on adventures, spend time with my loved ones, play music, still work hard but on meaningful things, etc. because I believe this is what is more inline with actually being human. The majority of the time I live in opposite land, where madness reigns yet most people act as if these modern times are normal. May the spell be broken, let us awaken, I beg, I plead, I pray, I do !!!

  3. Very insightful. The “fake news” talking point is meant to confuse all American’s . Someone is lying or maybe they are all lying. Which group is telling the truth? Is Trump? Hillary? The corporate media? The FBI? CIA? And which are lying?

The 600 plus billion dollars the Pentagon spends each year is an obscene amount. They are robbing American’s blind. And then they’ll unleash the ISIL false flag terrorist attacks on American’s to keep their mouths shut and compliant, and even more confused and terrified.

  4. A real media with actual investigative power would be talking about:

    1. The Federal Reserve private banking cartel. Who are the private owners? Why are they still in charge of issuing our currency when this is a power delegated to Congress? Usury would be a huge discussion if we had a real media.

    2. The Internal Revenue Service and the red-as-communism income tax.

    3. Federal leviathan in Washington, D. C. whose usurpation of individual and state’s rights is so evil you can smell brimstone inside the beltway. You know, the alphabet soup bureaucrats who are way overpaid and way underworked but exercise disastrous amounts of power over our day to day lives. EPA, FDA, BLM, DEA, DOE, etc. etc. etc.

    4. Judges who believe they are gods.

    5. No-fault, red-as-communism, divorce. Easy divorce is a goal of communists.

    6. Police who look at citizens as beneath them and treat them according to this mindset.

    7. Pedophile rings, pedophiles who serve in our government, and anywhere else such revolting acts are being committed.

I could go on and on and on. This list is ample enough to show there are precious few who have the courage to report on these matters. And there are virtually none in the so-called “main stream” media.

  5. ..wow…people liked your piece, huh? – …well I expected something a bit more insightful, but it doesn’t matter, Americans cannot be “helped”, they are stuck in their own favorite mud – unable and unwilling to even begin to understand the trap that was set for them when Lincoln arrogated to himself the absurd “privilege” to use deadly force to “save the union”…
Save it for what? – …you’re living the answer. – The US is a criminal entity and cannot be “saved” by “voting”…it can only be “saved by disappearing. – Once criminals gain pivotal political power, there will be no legal way to defeat them. – A better future is possible, but not if retaining the utterly illegitimate union construct is seen as sacrosanct – no genuine reason ever offered. – All states are perfectly capable of governing themselves, fully independent, fully sovereign…THERE’s the key to a Future worth dreaming of…won’t happen…Americans are weak and indifferent and have been indoctrinated for far too long. Collective narcissism and supremacism delivers the herd to the Guardians of the Construct.
“Freedom” IS just another word for nothing left to lose.
