Thanks Obama – My Healthcare Plan Was Just Canceled

Screen Shot 2016-07-15 at 10.58.15 AM

In the run-up to the passage of Obamacare, President Obama repeatedly assured the American public that “If you like your healthcare plan, you can keep your healthcare plan.”

Here are just a few examples (is that Jon Corzine grinning enthusiastically at the 20 second mark?):

Interestingly enough, as much as I didn’t like my healthcare plan, I was planning on keeping it. Until I received a letter telling me I couldn’t from United Healthcare. Indeed, they weren’t too subtle about the entire thing, making it perfectly clear what was about to happen.

Not exactly the best way to start your week. As I proceeded to flip though the 10 page letter, I was directed to what United Healthcare deemed to be a comparable plan for me in 2017. Here’s how that plan compares to my current plan.

Premium payments: +30%
Per person deductible: +160%
Per person out of pocket maximum: +4.5%
Primary physician copay: +85%
Specialist copay: +115%

The list goes on. The only thing better about this plan is coinsurance drops from 30% to 20%.

I’ve been writing about the Obamacare implosion all year, but this time it hit very close to home. Here are some of the prior articles:

Needless to say, I’ll be shopping around for another plan. Thanks for the parting gift Obama.

  1. Wow. It’s bad enough reading about it but when it lands on your doorstep…

Anyone who believes anything this administration says about anything is a fool. Their entire modus operandi has been to say and do whatever it takes to get their position accepted and then deal with the aftermath later, usually through stonewalling and obsfucation.

If more Americans didn’t rely on mainstream propaganda organs for information we could avoid the greater part of the pain being inflicted on us.

I think this election has the potential to be a bloodbath for both Republicans and Democrats who have been AWOL on fixing things that hit Americans hard, while busying themselves with the inane, the inarticulable and the incurable. A pox on both their houses.

  2. I feel for you. Those a**holes cost me my gastroenterologist for the last 15 years (no colonoscopy this year) as well as my regular “care giver” (my personal non-hoplophobic Doctor) for the last 25 years.
Every single promise was a lie.
I never believed them from the first; I expected to pay more but didn’t expect to lose my doctors.

  3. F*** you Obama
I liked my health care but they didn’t like me. Humana cancelled health care insurance coverage for everyone with a individual policy in Nevada. Fortunately I only have 2 months of lapse until my Medicare coverage goes into place. Once that’s in place I plan to use every penny the government has allocated to Medicare to get all the stuff I need fixed. F*** you Obama you paper hanging son of a bitch

  4. Yep! Same thing happened to me last fall. This year there was only one plan that would cover me and it wasn’t worth it, because the deductible was so high. I’m told next year there will be no plans in my state.

I’m so done with the medical/pharma/insurance extortionists. I’ve been studying herbal medicine, and using/growing herbs, and my readings have never been better (I’m diabetic). But I know this isn’t feasible or desirable for everyone.

If I could afford to, I’d escape this messed up country!

  5. My company rolled out our plans between Texas and California. Californians are paying $50 less per paycheck and have 3 plan choices with our company. Californians also get paid more. Republicans can blame their law makers as they have done nothing to combat insurance companies who are robbing us blind.

    • Who’s the insurance company?
      Ganja Geico Corp of Jamaica?
The word rolled can be seen two ways IMO
Rolled as in rolling up a doobie and California gets to smoke it
Rolled as in being hijacked and robbed
There is not a single insurance company in this country that has lowered its rates.
By the time the insurance companies are done we will have a single payer system with no choices except increased government intrusion into the health care system, as if it’s not a major part of the health care system now, and Americans left with little or no opportunities to seek doctors that they want instead of what the government mandates

    • Aetna HMO, Aetna PPO and Kaiser Permanente HMO. They also announced they are double contributions to all healthy savings accounts. Texas only has Aetna PPO.

  6. I don’t understand. I’m in Oz. Last month I got kidney stones. Off to the emergency ward. Private room in the hospital. 2 days later I’m out. Cost: $0. I pay $500pa private insurance. I probably pay extra taxes for the single payer system so add on another $500. Fix your system already!

  7. COBRA from my wife’s job cost us $1200/month & was abruptly cancelled 2/1/2016. Our Obamacare plan is $288/month w/lower copays. Your mileage may vary. More importantly, in 1/2014 my late brother w/a terminal diagnosis of liver cancer was able to buy affordable health insurance under Obamacare meaning that when he died he left an estate instead of a smoking crater. We’re in TX & Obamacare has treated us well…

    • Yeah our company employees in Texas are paying $50 more and only one option. Texas is more about caring for the politicians and screwing the citizens. I loved living there but I get paid better anywhere else.

  8. The ACA was designed to fail. Obama is on record many times with speech about the bridge between what was our private system and a single payer system. Just look at YouTube between 2003-2007. It could never happen all at once.

Here is the world’s smallest violin now playing for Obama voters complaining about their health care. Grow up, junior. This was telegraphed.

  9. As Doug stated, Obummercare was always, always designed to fail. They wanted to implode healthcare so that they could institute complete socialized medicine as the savior of ACA. Never forget…. everything that has been happening is an orchestrated move to lower the standard of living by eliminating the middle class, moving the U.S. towards a police state, deconstructing the Constitution by Executive Order and other means.

We will enter this NWO… started by LBJ….started by TPTB….started by the Four Horsemen…. heaven knows, but there is a definitive long game being played and we aren’t even a consideration just a means to their ends. It’s crazy, but it’s real to anyone with eyes willing to look beyond their F##bck posts. Hang on… this ride only continues to get worse.
