Department of Homeland Security to Purchase 7,000 “Assault Weapons”

The hypocrisy of the government knows no bounds.  I have said repeatedly, and continue to say, that I am against all gun control at the moment because our government is extremely violent and not only do I not expect it to protect the American people in general, I believe it is far more concerned with protecting the status quo from the people.  It has become crystal clear that the political and financial oligarchs are quite intentionally attempting to disarm the populace while arming themselves to the teeth in anticipation of some horrible economic event they know is inevitable.  From the Blaze:

The Department of Homeland Security is seeking to acquire 7,000 5.56x45mm NATO “personal defense weapons” (PDW) — also known as “assault weapons” when owned by civilians. The solicitation, originally posted on June 7, 2012, comes to light as the Obama administration is calling for a ban on semi-automatic rifles and high capacity magazines.

Citing a General Service Administration (GSA) request for proposal (RFP), Steve McGough of reports that DHS is asking for the 7,000 “select-fire” firearms because they are “suitable for personal defense use in close quarters.” The term select-fire means the weapon can be both semi-automatic and automatic. Civilians are prohibited from obtaining these kinds of weapons.

That being said, it is reasonable for the Department of Homeland Security to request these rifles as they are indeed effective personal defense weapons. The agency is tasked with keeping Americans safe from those who wish to do the country harm, and its officials should be equipped with all the tools they need to do so effectively.

See the meme being pushed here?  These guys want the entire population completely domesticated.  They want us to depend on the government for food.  For healthcare.  For self-defense.  Two sets of laws.  One for the “rulers” and one for the “ruled.”  This is the opposite of how things function in a free society.

I am sorry, but unless you think the DHS is preparing for an invasion by Al Qaeda, it is quite clear these weapons are being bought for future use against the citizenry of the United States.  The writing on the wall couldn’t be clearer.

  1. Another brick in the wall….

  2. The weapon described is a military one.

An invasion by anyone, from Al Qaeda to Liechtenstein, would be repulsed by the American military which, appropriately, already possesses them.

HLS is being militarized just in time for Global Spring, or as Keiser puts it GIABO.

Stefan Molynieux points out that in ongoing civil interactions during peaceful times, the social contract demands that citizens accept that government have a monopoly on violence. He decries it, of course, and no doubt he is philosophically correct. However, the brilliance of the US Constitution, and the second amendment, was that it established a counterbalancing tension in which the government’s monopoly was contingent on its upholding its end of the contract.

What we’re seeing is an arms race. Record weapons/ammunition purchases by a diffuse citizenry increasingly aware that the only place the social contract exists is in their memory, and by the enforcement arms of the government, explicitly knowledgable that the only place the social contract exists is in the imaginations of the as-yet unaware.

I agree with Michael that the writing on the wall couldn’t be clearer.

  3. The govt knows as some point in time, they will not be able to paper over things with more money printing and the amount of debt the US carries and the amount of people without jobs and/or financial resources will create scenes like we see in greece here.
To what extent those scenes will become or how long they will last until the American people come to terms with the fact they are going to have to live through a depession while the US deleverages, I don’t know; but the govt definitely wants as little trouble as possible when that realization happens.
I expect gun grabbing, TSA going whereever it feels like and drones over the US all attempts to be ready for whatever happens so that those holding the keys get to keep holding the keys.

  4. Well, the slaves ain’t going to disarm themselves.

  5. “…I am against all gun control at the moment….”

One hopes you are against all gun control no matter what the moment.

    • Right, Warren. We have to stay clear on the notion that each adult MUST be allowed to choose for himself want to buy and what activities to engage in, so long as the purchase and activity of themselves neither injure nor impinge on the freedom of others. At the end of the day, Michael Krieger should be able to choose for himself and his minor children, only. Same goes for me.

Part of cur collective frustration is living under a regime so overblown that we must ASK FOR PERMISSION, and pay a fee, TO DO LAWFUL THINGS. That is to say, we have a parent-child relationship with our government. It is only mildly hyperbolic to suggest that in essence, we are renting our lives and our rights from the government, as it is now configured.

  6. Hello,

I have read the various documents associated with this solicitation. Direct link here.

    A few important points.

    1. They want fully automatic. “assault rifles”. The terminology in the solicitation “personal defense weapons” is for the sheeple to go back to sleep in case they might of woken up for a moment.

    2. They are vague in stating which dept. these weapons are for. They say “to numerous department of Homeland Security components”. That could mean any entity under the auspices of Homeland Security. At the top of the solicitation page is “Office: Immigration & Customs Enforcement”. If you go through these docs in this solicitation you find ICE showing up in various places. Here are a few:

“While ICE is willing to pay more for greater technical capability the price must be fair and reasonable and the assessed higher technical capability must be worth the price premium.

    801 I STREET NW
    WASHINGTON, DC 20536”

“ICE anticipates the award of one contract as a result of this solicitation.”

We can assume these weapons are for ICE. If a person bought a gun and stated it was for them or whoever else they work with can you imagine what would happen? You couldn’t buy the gun or you go to jail after handing it out to someone else. One law for us and another one for them.

One site I like for Narco News is They have plenty of material on ICE.

Who is ICE you might be asking.

According to their site ICE is an “investigative arm of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the second largest investigative agency in the federal government.” What does an “Investigative arm” need with 7000 automatic assault rifles?

On another portion of their site:

“Homeland Security Investigations – HSI investigates immigration crime, human rights violations and human smuggling, smuggling of narcotics, weapons and other types of contraband, financial crimes, cybercrime and export enforcement issues. ICE special agents conduct investigations aimed at protecting critical infrastructure industries that are vulnerable to sabotage, attack or exploitation. ”

Considering the USA gov. has no interest in protecting the Southern borders from illegal aliens coming over to this country, and they have already started closing down satellite surveillance of the Southern border as shown in the link below, what does all this tell you? The weapons are not for repelling a Southern invasion. They might be used against the people in close combat situations.

    3. 3.9.10 The action shall be capable of accepting all standard NATO STANAG 20 and 30 round M16 magazines (NSN 1005-00-921-5004) and Magpul 30 round PMAG (NSN 1005-01-576-5159).

I guess it’s OK for men in uniform to have high capacity magazines, but not the people.

General. DHS and its components have a requirement for a 5.56x45mm NATO, select-fire firearm suitable for personal defense use in close quarters and/or when maximum concealment is required.”

The purpose of these weapons is for close quarters combat. Homeland security is a domestic agency. They have ordered over 1.6 billion rounds of 40 caliber hollow point ammo which is a different caliber than the .223, which is what this solicitation is for.

They are buying enough weapons to support an army. Where do you think they are going to deploy these weapons? They are obviously stocking up on weaponry and preparing for close combat activities in the USA. Do you see any terrorists in large numbers in the USA? I don’t.

Since ICE is not going to be using these weapons head to head with the drug cartels on our borders, ie, we have been smuggling guns to them in Fast and Furious, Homeland Security might be using ICE to buy these weapons in bulk and transfer the weapons themselves to drug cartels in Mexico. Remember, these people don’t take no for an answer.

Since ICE is intimately involved with drug trade activities, they are directly connected to the the drug cartels. Even though their stated mission says one thing, we all know the end result is quite the opposite.

    Some things to think about.
