The American Public’s Positive Perception of the NRA Soars in the Face of Obama’s Gun Control Agenda

Screen Shot 2016-01-08 at 11.07.14 AM

When pollsters asked people three decades ago how they felt about the National Rifle Association, 27% said they strongly supported the gun lobby. By last month, that share had grown 38%, an 11-point increase. Meanwhile, the share that didn’t side with the NRA declined.

By an 8-point, registered voters in the Journal/NBC survey last month said they were more concerned that the government would go too far in restricting gun rights than that it fail to do enough to regulate access to firearms. When adults were asked the same question in 1995, the greater fear was that access to firearms was too widespread.

In July polling, the Journal/NBC survey found that 43% of the public had a positive image of the NRA and 32% a negative one—a more favorable view than the public held of the Supreme Court or either political party. By a 15-point margin, political independents, also viewed the NRA more positively than negatively.

– From the Wall Street Journal article: Rising Support for NRA Stymies Obama

Love guns or hate guns, one thing is becoming perfectly clear. The American public’s perception of guns and the NRA is moving in the exact opposite direction of Barack Obama’s message and agenda.

To hear Obama speak, you’d think the NRA is simply using boatloads of money and propaganda to thwart the impassioned gun control desires of the American public. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth. First, let’s take a look at some powerful charts from the Wall Street Journal.

All Supply of the $1,200 Machine for Making Guns Has Sold Out in 36 Hours

Screen Shot 2014-10-06 at 10.32.55 AMLast May, I covered the work of Defense Distributed with regard to its building of tools for individuals to 3D-print their own firearms in the post. Meet “The Liberator”: The World’s First Fully 3D-Printed Firearm, In it, I noted:

3D-printing, like decentralized crypto currencies, have the potential to change the world in which we live in extraordinary ways. Ways that are almost inconceivable at this point given we are so early in the game. More than anything else, these technologies can empower the individual like never before, and I think that is generally a very good thing.

While all sixteen pieces of the Liberator were printed in ABS plastic, the $1,200 computer-controlled (CNC) milling machine called the “Ghost Gunner,” is capable of automatically carving polymer, wood, and metal in three dimensions. More from Wired:

Sandy Hook Elementary to be Demolished – Contractors Forced to Sign Confidentiality Agreements

Am I the only one that finds this incredibly strange? While I completely understand community concerns surrounding potential exploitation of the tragedy, they seem to be going way overboard in their precautions. I’d love to hear readers’ thought on this because it seems extremely bizarre to me…

From the AP:

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — When the old Sandy Hook Elementary School is demolished, building materials will be pulverized on site and metal will be taken away and melted down in an effort to eliminate nearly every trace of the building where a gunman killed 26 people last December.

Contractors also will be required to sign confidentiality agreements and workers will guard the property’s perimeter to prevent onlookers from taking photographs or videos.

Demolition is set to begin next week and be finished before the Dec. 14 anniversary of the shootings. Town voters last month accepted a state grant of $49.3 million to raze the building and build a new school, which is expected to open by December 2016.

Texas High School Rewrites the Second Amendment in its History Books

This is straight up ridiculous. The Daily Paul has brought to my attention that Guyer High School in Denton, Texas is currently using a textbook that describes the 2nd Amendment as such:

Screen Shot 2013-09-17 at 4.58.13 PM

Now this is what the 2nd Amendment actually says:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

The Daily Paul correctly points out:

Did you catch the sleight of hand?

A militia is a body of citizens enrolled for military service, and called out periodically for drill but serving full time only in emergencies. It’s a common man army of citizens, NOT soldiers. The citizens are called up in emergencies to protect the free State.

The 2nd Amendment says that a militia is necessary to protect a free State, so in order to be able to have a militia, the citizens have a natural right to keep and bear arms and the government cannot infringe on that right.

The textbook version implies that we’re only allowed to keep and bear arms if we’re in a State militia, a clear misrepresentation of the 2nd Amendment.

Anyone that has actually read the Bill of Rights, understands that they are very brief in text. There is absolutely no reason to ever abbreviate any of these Amendments considering how crucial they are to our civil liberties.

To demonstrate just how brief they are, I have listed them below:

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Amendment II

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg Spends $350,000 in a Failed Attempt to Sway Colorado Politics

Most of my readers have probably already heard of the story below, but the reason I have chosen to highlight it today is because it represents something far more significant than simply the ouster of two local politicians. It is actually a manifestation of a much larger and more significant trend in these United States. A potent and far reaching political awakening that is sweeping the nation.

In the past, many people would simply shrug their shoulders in response to the insanity of legislators both at the local and national level. Not anymore. Enough people have finally received the much needed “kick in the butt” to get motivated and we are starting to see changes. Not only did some Colorado activists recall two politicians that voted against gun rights, but much more importantly, the American people as a whole just prevented (for now) a war in Syria by making their collective voices heard in mass and by pressuring their representatives. The sleeping giant is awake and politicians had better take notice.

The action in Colorado is particularly pleasing to me considering it is my adopted home state, as well as the fact that control freak, nanny state NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg spent $350,000 of his own money in a failed effort to prop up the recalled politicians. Going forward, nothing would please me more than if Bloomie wastes his entire fortune in failed attempts to ban large sodas, guns, salt and e-cigarrettes. Of course, he will never see, let alone criticize, all of the crimes committed by crony finance pals. From the New York Times:

COLORADO SPRINGS — Two Colorado Democrats who provided crucial support for a package of state gun laws were voted out of office on Tuesday in special elections seen as a test of whether swing-state voters would accept gun restrictions after mass shootings at a Colorado movie theater and a Connecticut elementary school.

The vote, which came five months after the United States Senate defeated several gun restrictions, handed another loss to gun-control supporters and gave moderate lawmakers across the country a warning about the political risks of voting for tougher gun laws.

Although the election was confined to two small districts in Southern Colorado and does not repeal Colorado’s gun laws or change partisan control of the General Assembly, both sides spent heavily and campaigned fiercely, fighting to prevail in what analysts called a proxy battle between gun-control advocates and the National Rifle Association.

For advocates on both sides, the stakes in Tuesday’s elections were far bigger than the fates of two state politicians. As money and national attention poured into Colorado, a state of hunters that has been stained by two mass shootings, the races became a symbol of the nation’s bitter fight over gun control, with one side bolstered by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg of New York and the other by the National Rifle Association.

While both sides campaigned vigorously, knocking on doors, holding rallies and driving voters to the polls, gun-control advocates far outspent their opponents. A range of philanthropists, liberal political groups, unions and activists raised a total of $3 million to defend Mr. Morse and Ms. Giron. Mr. Bloomberg personally gave $350,000.

IRS Agents are Training with AR-15 “Assault Weapons”

Another day, another headline that must surely be “conspiracy theory,” but unfortunately for us all turns out to be conspiracy fact.  While Obama was rolling out intense anti-gun propaganda and demonizing “assault weapons” such as the AR-15, his Administration seems to have no problem with the political group targeting, corrupt beyond belief IRS using them in training.  It’s simply mind-boggling to think about this bureaucracy being armed with such weapons, and totally exposes what I wrote at length about earlier this year:  The Gun Control Hypocrite.  From Politico:

As chairman of the House Homeland Security oversight subcommittee, Duncan (R-S.C.) toured a federal law enforcement facility in late May and noticed agents training with the semi-automatic weapons at a firing range. They identified themselves as IRS, he said.

While Duncan acknowledges that the IRS has an enforcement division, he questions if that level of firepower is appropriate when they could coordinate operations with other agencies, like the FBI, especially in a time of austerity.

Take that Bloomberg: Another Gun Manufacturer Refuses to Sell to the NYPD

This is actually a movement that has been going on for quite some time, and frankly I think it’s great.  The worst offenses are possible when a government or country’s military/technology advantage becomes too great versus the people they are trying to subjugate.  Just ask the Native Americans.  I have made my opinions on gun control clear many, many times.  Apparently Serbu Firearms is the 137th company to halt sales to New York law enforcement under a boycott in response to the state’s passage of the SAFE Act.  Here’s what I learned today:

Serbu Firearms, a manufacturer of bolt-action and semi-automatic .50 caliber sniper rifles, is refusing to sell their wares to the NYPD. Their reason, of course, is that owing to unfair gun laws, they will not support law enforcement in New York.

Serbu is one of almost 150 companies that has officially refused to sell to law enforcement in New York following the passage of the SAFE Act, the controversial gun control package that has been met with scorn by gun owners across the nation.

Company founder Mark Serbu said, “Unfortunately, we have a policy of selling to state law enforcement agencies only what is allowed to be sold to private citizens in that state. Since the passage of the NY SAFE act, the BFG-50A is considered an assault weapon and as such is no longer available to private citizens in the state of New York. Therefore we have to respectfully decline to supply your department with BFG-50A rifles.”

How Mayor Bloomberg is Buying Off Elections All Across America

As if it’s not bad enough that we live in a country where crony capitalism is so entrenched that the oligarchs never face justice and are consistently bailed out on the tax payers’ dime, but now we have to suffer from oligarchs using their fortunes to buy-off elections all over the country.  I am specifically referring to one of the biggest hypocrites alive today, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his Super PAC, Independence USA.  I want to highlight two recent stories in order to demonstrate exactly what this particular oligarch is up to.  First, from a recent Washington Post article:

It’s a bad day when New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s political action committee rolls into town to take you on.

Former congresswoman Debbie Halvorson (D-Ill.) is finding that out the hard way right now, as she suffers from a barrage of ads from the super PAC, also known as Independence USA.

The PAC, which has backed gun control supporters and targeted those who oppose it, regardless of party, has so far spent about 20 times the amount Halvorson has been able to raise for her campaign in the special election to replace former congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.). While Halvorson has raised just about $100,000, Independence USA has spent $2.16 million against her, citing her ‘A’ rating from the NRA.

So because “Your Highness” Bloomberg doesn’t like guns (except when it’s the people protecting him that have them), he overwhelms an Illinois election with money to defeat the pro-gun candidate.  The outcome?  She lost.  This is what Bloomie had to say in the aftermath:

Advice from the Department of Homeland Security: If Attacked by a Shooter, Grab Some Scissors

I first heard about this from a New York Post article on the topic.  Then I watched the video for myself.  It’ll make you want to defund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) immediately.  While the whole “grab scissors” to defend oneself during a mass shooting is pretty amusing, the more disturbing part is that … Read more

British Newspaper Calls for a 3rd Obama Term

This Op Ed by Mary Dejevsky in the UK’s Independent consists of such rampant propaganda and drivel it is almost impossible to believe she is not on the official payroll of the Obama Administration.  Who would’ve thought the second British Invasion would consist of Piers Morgan and Mary Dejevsky?  I miss the Beatles.

Prepare for a sense of overwhelming disbelief as you read the following excerpts.  From The Independent:

What a difference four years make. When Barack Obama delivers his second inaugural address, as he will on the Washington Mall on Monday, he will do so confident that he is hitting the ground running.

Really, then why does a recent Gallup poll say Americans have never been so downbeat on the nation?

And while a second term frees him from many of the constraints that curb the ambitions of all first-term presidents, the sense already lurks that his presidential promise is only starting to be fulfilled.

What promise?  Continuing and expanding Bush’s unconstitutional policies under the guise of “liberalism?”

Yet there are compelling reasons why two four-year terms may not be enough for a competent and popular US president today. The first, and most obvious, is that a maximum eight-year lease at the White House is short by international standards.

Silly me, for a minute there I thought we were a sovereign nation capable of making our own decisions.

Now here is where she really loses it…
