What I think may be happening in regards to North Korea is that they may just be stalling to see if Trump gets re-elected in 2020 or if a Democrat gets into office then so NK can simply abandon their previous peace gestures and return to their old confrontational ways without fear of bombing or invasion.
@Rocketman, Dems are warmongers now too. Part of Trump’s appeal was that he was supposed to end the endless conflicts and focus on MAGA. Kind of funny how soon we forget that.
I can only see two possible things motivating North Korea:
1) They believe the current regime is untenable and want to negotiate a good deal for the Kim family while they can
2) They are stalling to develop more weapons REGARDLESS of who’s running the West. As seen in Syria, Libya, Iraq, Yemen, Iran, and many other places, we cannot be trusted. The only way to deter us from reducing your society to rubble with our toxic brand of “democracy” is to show that you can fight back.

There is one reason and one reason only for Kim Jong Un’s sudden reversal.
When he launched the missiles over Japan, the Japanese quietly made it crystal clear to Pooh Bear in mainland China that they should cast their memory back to what has always happened to China whenever Japan decides to make a point to China.
Pooh summons Kim to China, and suddenly Kim does a 180 on his nuclear program.
The Chinese are scared shitless of the Japanese. As they should be.
I disagree. In 1938 China was a farming nation with little of the way of industrialization and Japan was a militarized state that looked at the western Europe societies military technology and tried to emulate them. Neither is the case today. If war broke out tomorrow between Japan and China and no other countries got involved (unlikely) my money would definitely be on China.
