Liberty Links 4/14/18 – World War 3

World War 3
Sharing links unrelated to the reckless, criminal and unconstitutional act launched by Donald Trump and the U.S. government last night feels kinda inappropriate. As such, here are a few short paragraphs on what I think it all means. I’ll have more next week.

I think last night’s historically foolish action by the U.S., UK and France may mark the official start of World War 3. You could argue it began long ago, but there’s always been hope for the trends to reverse. We’ve now likely gone over the brink, and the odds of turning this ship around is so low it doesn’t deserve serious consideration.

Russian leadership are not a bunch of fools, nor will they back down. After last night, they know for certain the U.S. empire is determined to castrate them globally at all costs in order to impede an inevitable emergence of a multi-polar world.

I don’t think Russia or Iran will respond with a shock and awe attack any time soon, nor will this likely spiral out of control in the near-term. It’s more likely we’ll see this all play out over the course of the next 5 years or so.

I also don’t expect this to go nuclear, but I think the chances the U.S. experiences an imperial collapse similar to that of the USSR (or like any historically unmanageable and corrupt empire) has become increasingly likely. My view at this point is the U.S. and its global power position will be so dramatically altered in the years ahead, it’ll be almost unrecognizable by 2025, as a result of both economic decline and major geopolitical mistakes. This will cause the public to justifiably lose faith in all leadership and institutions.

I’ve been increasingly using Twitter to express my thoughts, so you should really check out my timeline there.

Here are a few tweets from the last 24 hours.

  1. Michael, you keep getting better by the week! And yeah you have an optimistic point of view. I think you are right. I think there will be no nuclear response from Russia or whoever else (China). I sort of think Russia and China are aware the American people are not responsible for its government. Only 27% of the eligible voters voted for Trump in 2016. 46% is a large percentage and that is the percent who hated both Hillary and Trump. Putin does not want to vaporize the world. They see the U.S. government controlled by crazy elites and that the media is owned by them. Note the polls show Trump approval going up. Well that is likely the first falsified poll as all the media wants war and to keep the MIC thriving. In a few years it will unravel. Bitcoin does not finance war. Nor does gold. Also the boomers are overburdening social security and Medicare. I can see the new economy reducing the tax revenues while the spending keeps increasing. Finally the real estate bubble and stock bubble are overdue for a collapse. I think Russia and China will get further out of the dollar and interest rates will go up at the same time as inflation. The pigs controlling America will destroy their own empire Russia and China can provide the role of they want, but probably won’t have to. Note the decline of The British empire was not the end of Britain. It was the end of most of their wars.

  2. A Public Outcry Against a Wall Street Titan’s Name on a High School

ABINGTON, Pa. — Stephen A. Schwarzman, the Wall Street billionaire, was prepared to cut a $25 million check to the high school he attended here in the 1960s, to help it pay for a huge renovation project.

He wanted only a few things in return.

For starters, the public school should be renamed in his honor. A portrait of him should be displayed prominently in the building. Spaces at the school should be named for his twin brothers. He should have the right to review the project’s contractors and to sign off on a new school logo.

The school district’s officials accepted the deal.

So it was that this Philadelphia bedroom community of 55,000, not normally a hotbed of civic unrest, exploded into a populist fury.

I just think there’s too much influence about big money, Wall Street money, in our society,” said Robert Durham, who arrived for the school board meeting 45 minutes early

Stunned by the public outcry, which included an online petition that has now garnered nearly 1,500 signatures, the district amended its decision to rename the school the Abington Schwarzman High School. Instead, Mr. Schwarzman’s name would merely grace the new science and technology center.

A decade has passed since the global financial crisis. The economy is growing; unemployment is low. But emotions are still running hot about the role that big banks and other Wall Street firms — and their millionaire and billionaire leaders — play in America. Yawning inequality has cemented the feeling that just about everything is available for purchase by the very, very rich.

Mr. Schwarzman, with an estimated $12 billion fortune, is the embodiment of that caste.

When the floor was finally opened to the audience, it was nearly 9 p.m. Dozens of people queued for their three minutes at the microphone. Some read from prepared notes. Others cross-examined Dr. Sichel and the school board’s nine members.

The anger was not just about the school being renamed for Mr. Schwarzman. It was that the school board forged the deal in secret.

David Brooks, who graduated from the high school in 2000, said the board was one of three things: “brazen,” “sneaky” or “stupid.” If the school’s name could be auctioned for $25 million, he added, “what else is for sale?”

    • Excellent storey Rick, & speaking of “Education” see below ..(& Really great Post Michael Cheers). Seems to me the Hairy Mammoth in the room is Israel & it’s Global 5th Col. In any case this needs probing. I just watched this address by Gideon Levy. The “Brainwashing & Ignorance ” it posits is mind blowing…and it’s not just Israel where this problem occurs. DO watch it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQS-_9K5-Dk&feature=share

  3. I doubt that Russia will MILITARILY confront us. That would be foolish on their part. They will strike us where we are the weakest and most vulnerable. The U.S.A. is over twenty one trillion dollars in debt. They will find a way to either trash the U.S. dollar currency and significantly raise interest rates or figure out a way to eliminate the SWIFT system of bank to bank payment so as not to use American dollars anymore. Either would turn the U.S. over a couple of weeks into 1920’s Germany.

  4. Economic growth and power are moving East. Russia and China are not run by insane psychopaths. The West is collapsing as we speak.

  5. Your first tweet is correct. Good points in many others. NOT WW3 though. The Syrians weren’t in the places hit. Their Air Force was elsewhere. Net effect: light show and some extra cleanup. Hence no real reason to retaliate.

Trump is going to call it a day, Assad is going to win with Iran and Russia’s help, and the main question is whether Iran will try to set up permanent military forces and trigger a large Israeli response.

But that would just be the regional war that’s been brewing since 2006.

This isn’t world war 3, and is very unlikely to become so. Doesn’t mean the allegations used to justify the attacks are true, or that your other claims here are false.

  6. Trump lost a lot of support this weekend. Quite a few people have expressed disappointment in this Syria escalation, including media supporters like Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham, and even Alex Jones. Sycophants like Jones should be ashamed of themselves anyway, but longtime supporters turning away over broken promises is a major hurdle for team Trump 2020. At this point, Trump may have to run a campaign of contrition rather than railing against the swamp. This seems unlikely as introspection is one of the last traits anyone would ever associate with him.

The atmosphere feels much different than 2003 and the public is far more skeptical of US/UK/French motivations in Syria. I’m unsure exactly what this means, but a lot of people seem to be waking up to the notion that their problems cannot be solved via the political process. Trump was supposed to be the anti-politician but that illusion took a body blow with these Syria strikes.

We live in interesting times. As more people lose confidence in voting, I’d imagine we will start to see a new side to America. The response will be at turns inspiring and terrifying. I suspect we have yet to see both the best and worst our society can muster.

    • It seems like the same Democrats who were conspiring against Trump are now cheerleading for Trump. On closer examination Trump is showing his imperial power to the office of president and the leftist state worshippers were missing that the most. They wanted Trump to not make a mockery of the role he is in. My own opinion is aligned with Lysander Spooner: No politician is authorized for his role. The roles are spelled out in the constitution and Spooner proved no Constitution has authority. Trump is also sucked into the deep state. His appointments of Pompeo, Bolton and Gina Haspel confirmed it. And yes you are right about the former Trump base. They are either oddly silent or loudly renouncing their support of Trump. One woman I friended on Facebook three years ago angrily broke her two year worship of Trump because of this latest strike. She broadcast it on social media. I enjoyed that of course. I think this second strike, combined with the recent appointments of the war cabinet was the last straw for her. It looks as though even if the Democrats pick up a majority in the senate this year, they will not be contentious of Trump for the remainder of his term. More gun control legislation and more war are on the menu. The real oligarchy is going to be obvious the next two and a half years and it might very well be more than 50% of the eligible voters will “stay home” on Election Day in 2020. 46% of the voters in 2016 “stayed home.” That is huge, and people don’t realize its significance. Decent people refuse to be played by the deep state and therefore don’t vote. I am just glad I loaded up on bitcoin and precious metals when I did. I need to buy more popcorn.

    • As you correctly point out, problems are not being solved by the political process. In fact, you could make a good case that government itself is the cause of most of our problems.

At this point, an objective observer might conclude that anarchy seems not only possible, but increasingly probable.

This assumes, of course, that there is still a critical mass of the populace that is not completely mind controlled and brain dead.
