Thoughts on Trump’s Speech (Why I Can’t Vote for Him and Why He Could Win)

It is in the social sphere, in the realm of politics and economics, that the Will to Order becomes really dangerous. Here the theoretical reduction of unmanageable multiplicity to comprehensible unity becomes the practical reduction of human diversity to subhuman uniformity, of freedom to servitude. In politics the equivalent of a fully developed scientific theory or philosophical system is a totalitarian dictatorship. In economics, the equivalent of a beautifully composed work of art is the smoothly running factory in which the workers are perfectly adjusted to the machines. The Will to Order can make tyrants out of those who merely aspire to clear up a mess. The beauty of tidiness is used as a justification for despotism.

In Hitler’s words, the propagandist should adopt “a systematically one-sided attitude towards every problem that has to be dealt with.” He must never admit that he might be wrong or that people with a different point of view might be even partially right. Opponents should not be argued with; they should be attacked, shouted down, or, if they become too much of a nuisance, liquidated. The morally squeamish intellectual may be shocked by this kind of thing. But the masses are always convinced that “right is on the side of the active aggressor.”

– From Aldous Huxley’s, Brave New World Revisited, published 1958

I just finished watching Trump’s entire acceptance speech and I have all sorts of thoughts to share. Let’s start with the overall picture. First, the speech confirmed all the reasons I cannot support Trump, but also further solidified why I think it’s very possible that he will win and become President. The speech was disturbing on multiple levels, while at the same time brilliant from a manipulative and salesmanship standpoint. He held my attention for the entire 75 minutes. Can you imagine for a moment Hillary doing the same thing? Yes, it matters.

So let’s get into it. The overriding theme in Trump’s speech was that he represents the “law and order candidate” and that he will “make America safe again.” Of course, the reality is that America is pretty safe and has been getting much safer over the decades. Nevertheless, media and politicians have fear-mongered the general public into thinking there is a terrorist behind every bush, and Trump is intentionally playing into that fear and emotion. Why is he doing this?  He knows that convincing people to be afraid of ghosts allows an executive to grab more power, and he desperately wants that power. But let’s get started with a few facts. Bloomberg notes:

TRUMP: “Homicides last year increased by 17% in America’s fifty largest cities. That’s the largest increase in 25 years. In our nation’s capital, killings have risen by 50 percent. They are up nearly 60% in nearby Baltimore.”

THE FACTS: Trump’s figures come from a Jan. 27 Washington Post article analyzing preliminary FBI crime statistics that won’t be finalized until the fall. But violent crime remains lower than it was a decade ago and the rate has been falling for roughly 25 years. “When considering 5- and 10-year trends, the 2014 estimated violent crime total was 6.9 percent below the 2010 level and 16.2 percent below the 2005 level” the FBI reports

The truth of the matter is that serious crime is at multi-decade lows across the country. Moreover, the places he mentions as being particularly crime-ridden, such as Chicago and Baltimore, are not exactly bastions of Trump support. He knows this, but he is using these examples to instill fear in his supporters. Fear that the crime in those lawless liberals cities will shortly overflow into their neighborhoods. Just like there’s probably a terrorist hiding in every cornfield. Trump knows exactly what he’s doing. He’s exaggerating a threat in order to get people into a state of fear. Once in a state of fear, people are much more impressionable and much more easily manipulated. He’s essentially injecting them with “herd poison.” As Huxley noted:

Assembled in a crowd, people lose their powers of reasoning and their capacity for moral choice. Their suggestibility is increased to the point where they cease to have any judgement or will of their own. They become very excitable, they lose all sense of individual or collective responsibility, they are subject to sudden accesses of rage, enthusiasm and panic. In a word, man in a crowd behaves as though he had swallowed a large dose of what I have called “herd-poisoning.”

Reading is a private, not a collective activity. The writer speaks only to individuals, sitting by themselves in a state of normal sobriety. The orator speaks to masses of individuals, already well primed with herd poison. They are at his mercy and, if he knows his business, he can do what he likes with them.

This is precisely why he starts his speech by focusing so singularly on law and order. He goes on to use recent police killings as proof that things really are spiraling out of control, yet what are the actual numbers? The actual number points to 32 officers being killed in firearm related fatalities in 2016. Yes, that’s right 32. He knows this, but he intentionally focuses on the scary sounding 60% increase. This was no accident. He’s selling fear. The man is good and he knows exactly what he’s doing.

So while America is facing some very real and serious issues, he doesn’t mention Wall Street or the Federal Reserve once. Not once. This is remarkable coming from a so-called “law and order” candidate. If there’s one area in which the law was most egregiously violated to the detriment of hundreds of millions of Americans it was the bailout of financial criminals and the failure to prosecute a single bank executive. How can a “law and order” candidate not mention this once in a 75 minute speech? I’ll tell you how. Trump wants to win on fear and emotion as opposed to actually challenging the real powers behind the curtain. He wants to punch downward and exert the full extent of the law upon the poor, the weak and disenfranchised. He doesn’t want to go after wealthy financiers, which is precisely why he intentionally avoids mentioning them despite knowing how significantly this issue resonated amongst Sanders supporters.

This wasn’t an accident, it was intentional. In fact, Trump only expresses outrage over one rich and powerful person who shamelessly avoided justice: Hillary Clinton. It just so happens she is the one running against him for President. So he’ll target elite criminals only in specific circumstances, and he doesn’t actually view elite criminality as the epidemic it is. Rather, he sells people on the idea that the epidemic resides with poor people committing homicides and killing cops. In a nutshell, Trump is essentially signaling that he’s not really going to take on the establishment. He’s basically informing people that he will be there to mercilessly crack heads after the urban public rises up in revolt due to continued establishment theft. It’s subtle, but it’s pretty obvious.

He intentionally mentions police that were tragically killed in the line of duty, while not once paying homage to all the victims of police brutality. As such, you can be sure the militarization of police will be intensified significantly under Trump. He even echoes Bush’s war on terror lingo by saying “an attack on law enforcement is an attack on all Americans.” Let me remind you that 32 officers have been killed this year in firearm related deaths, while hundreds of millions are being crushed by our oligarch controlled neo-feudal economy. Once again, this is intentional and signals his true intentions to protect the powerful as opposed to the oppressed, something which contradicts his whole campaign theme. That’s because his campaign is largely a sales pitch as opposed to any sort of coherent philosophy.

While we’re on the topic of punching down, he states that “nothing affects him more than violence from immigrants,” and he says that this is solvable. What about the far greater numbers crushed by the financial crisis and subsequent banker theft? A theft that is ongoing, far more pervasive and also solvable. Yet he says nothing, absolutely nothing, on the topic of financial criminals.

Now let’s move on to some issues where he speaks some truth, but also completely contradicts himself. On the topic of foreign policy he states that Hillary left a legacy of “death, destruction, terrorism and weakness.” The first three are true, the last really isn’t. Aggressiveness is what actually led to the first three outcomes, but he has to throw weakness in there to make people connect their personal humiliation with some sort of invented national humiliation. A humiliation that only Donald Trump can solve. But don’t take my word for it. Trump actually said, “I alone can fix it,” to which Bernie Sanders responded:

Beyond Bernie’s observation, think about how defeatist Trump’s language is. It plays directly into the idea that we need a savior, and that he is that savior. You as individuals don’t need to do anything, daddy Trump will take care of it. Most importantly, no other individual can do anything, it has to be Trump. He’s saying to the public “you need me.” It’s extraordinarily creepy.

In the same vein, one of the more disturbing chants of the speech was when the crowd repeated “Yes, you will! Yes, you will!” It’s a very disempowering and slavish play on Obama’s “Yes, we can.”

Once again, let’s turn to Huxley to see how methodical Trump’s whole schtick is. In Chapter 6, The Arts of Selling, Huxley notes:

“Both parties,” we were told in 1956 by the editor of a leading business journal, “will merchandize their candidates and issues by the same methods that business had developed to sell goods. These include scientific selection of appeals and planned repetition…The political merchandisers appeal only to the weakness of voters, never to their potential strength. They make no attempt to educate the masses into becoming fit for self-government, they are content merely to manipulate and exploit them.

In one way or another, as vigorous he-man or kindly father, the candidate must be glamorous. He must also be an entertainer who never bores his audience. Inured to television and radio, that audience is accustomed to being distracted and does not like to be asked to concentrate or make a prolonged intellectual effort. All speeches by the entertainer-candidate must therefor be short and snappy. The great issues of the day must be dealt with in five minutes at the most-and preferably (since the audience will be eager to pass on to something a little livelier than inflation or the H-bomb) in sixty seconds flat. The nature of oratory is such that there has always been a tendency among politicians and clergymen to over-simplify complex issues. From a pulpit or a platform even the most conscientious of speakers finds it very difficult to tell the whole truth. The methods now being used to merchandise the political candidate as though he were a deodorant positively guarantee the electorate against ever hearing the truth about anything.

Thus far, I have focused on the negatives of Trump’s speech and why I cannot support or vote for the man. Nevertheless, there were some highlights last night which will prove very effective (I believe the law and order stuff was intentionally designed to influence low IQ-voters).

For the thinking person who is aware of what’s happening in this country, Trump offered some stuff. He talked about the enormous increase in debt under Obama with nothing to show for it. This was one of his best lines, because it’s absolutely accurate. Obama squandered so much American treasure on banker bailouts, cronyism and militarism abroad. He has been one of the most inept, destructive and oligarch-coddling Presidents in American history.

He also accurately noted that you can’t rely on the same politicians to solve the problems they created. Again, he is 100% correct on this point. This may have been the most persuasive line of the entire speech. What he is implying is the following: “you may not like me, but I’m a gamble worth taking given the guaranteed disaster that is Hillary.” Will that work on enough people? It might.

He goes on to say that the same old politicians have rigged the system for themselves and can’t be trusted. Again, he is right, and he is once again implying that he is different and Americans need to take a chance on Trump. On the topic of Hillary specifically, he notes that “she is their puppet and they pull the strings.” “Hillary Clinton’s message is that things will never change, my message is things have to change.” These are powerful and accurate indictments that will resonate. It’s true that we need paradigm level change, but is Trump’s change the kind of change we need? Will he really go after the status quo, the people who have really rigged the game in their favor?

As expressed earlier, I have my doubts about that, but Trump can at least make the case while Hillary cannot. As an example, take a look at the following quotes from an article recently published at The Hill:

CLEVELAND — Many of the lobbyists and advocates who came to Cleveland for the Republican National Convention won’t be sticking around to hear Donald Trump make his acceptance speech.

Lobbyists are out in force at the convention hosting events, meeting with clients and connecting with federal, state and local officials, but many of them have no plans to stay for the event’s duration.

More than a dozen lobbyists told The Hill they would be leaving the convention early. None wanted to be identified on the record.

Trump has very few supporters in the lobbying community, which predominately features those who had jobs in previous Republican White Houses.

If I were Trump, I’d try to make sure every American reads that article, because those who don’t like Trump can still justify voting for him by saying “well at least he isn’t owned by lobbyists.” So while it’s true that Trump has the ability to crack elitist status quo heads, will he actually do it? That, I’m not so sure of.

There were a few other topics where he was very effective. He expressed aversion to nation building abroad, which pretty much everyone agrees with other than D.C. neocons/insiders. It’s also a subject on which he can draw a clear contrast with Hillary Clinton.

Then there’s his opposition to the fake corporatists giveaways masquerading as free trade deals such as the TPP. This is the one issue I agree with Trump on, where I also take him at his word. The primary accomplishment of these trade deals has been to make labor (wage) arbitrage destructively easy, a reality which has benefited the few tremendously at the expense of the many.

Finally, Trump saved the best for last. The entire last five minutes of his speech were brilliant and what most people will remember when they think back on it. Here’s what he said:

In this journey, I’m so lucky to have at my side my wife Melania and my wonderful children, Don, Ivanka, Eric, Tiffany, and Barron: you will always be my greatest source of pride and joy. My Dad, Fred Trump, was the smartest and hardest working man I ever knew. I wonder sometimes what he’d say if he were here to see this tonight.

It’s because of him that I learned, from my youngest age, to respect the dignity of work and the dignity of working people. He was a guy most comfortable in the company of bricklayers, carpenters, and electricians and I have a lot of that in me also. Then there’s my mother, Mary. She was strong, but also warm and fair-minded. She was a truly great mother. She was also one of the most honest and charitable people I have ever known, and a great judge of character.

To my sisters Mary Anne and Elizabeth, my brother Robert and my late brother Fred, I will always give you my love you are most special to me. I have loved my life in business.

But now, my sole and exclusive mission is to go to work for our country – to go to work for all of you. It’s time to deliver a victory for the American people. But to do that, we must break free from the petty politics of the past.

America is a nation of believers, dreamers, and strivers that is being led by a group of censors, critics, and cynics.

Remember: all of the people telling you that you can’t have the country you want, are the same people telling you that I wouldn’t be standing here tonight. No longer can we rely on those elites in media, and politics, who will say anything to keep a rigged system in place.

Instead, we must choose to Believe In America. History is watching us now.

It’s waiting to see if we will rise to the occasion, and if we will show the whole world that America is still free and independent and strong.

My opponent asks her supporters to recite a three-word loyalty pledge. It reads: “I’m With Her”. I choose to recite a different pledge.

My pledge reads: “I’M WITH YOU – THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.”

I am your voice.

So to every parent who dreams for their child, and every child who dreams for their future, I say these words to you tonight: I’m With You, and I will fight for you, and I will win for you.

To all Americans tonight, in all our cities and towns, I make this promise: We Will Make America Strong Again.

We Will Make America Proud Again.

We Will Make America Safe Again.

And We Will Make America Great Again.

THANK YOU.

He did what he needed to do in this speech. He used fear to appeal to low information, low IQ voters, while also making serious and important points on real issues Americans care about. Finally, he humanized himself in the closing minutes.

At the end of the day, I think this election will come down to one choice. Americans will be faced with two historically disliked candidates, so it will ultimately come down to voters answering the following question: Do I gamble on someone I really dislike who might actually shake things up, or do I vote for someone I dislike less but who will continue the status quo.

Are Americans fed up enough to take the gamble on Trump? We shall see.

In Liberty,
Michael Krieger

    • I’m sure this is not the first time in history this has happened, and probably not the last.
We have become a nation of soap opera whiners, it used to be that people were able to try something before the were judged, get a chance to show their ‘metal’, now we are just a complaining bunch of babies, very immature to say the least.. America is fast disinegrating..

    • a vote for gary johnson is a vote for hillary. period. perhaps worse. the independents are the ones that will sway the election against hillary or against trump.

endorsements from leading alt-media bloggers for jill or gary have a huge impact.

endorsements for jill are GREAT as they take votes from hillary.
endorsements for gary are terrible as they take votes from trump.

dear mike PLEASE ENDORSE JILL PUBLICLY IN A STRATEGIC MANNER. MAKE YOUR AUDIENCE REALLY BELIEVE YOU THINK SHE IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR ANYONE SUPPORTING BERNIE , ANYONG LEFT, OR INDEPENDNET, OR OTHERWISE ANTI TRUMP.

THAT is a great tactic to help trump. THANK YOU.

similarly you should dismiss and disparage people from voting for gary johnson at all and please emphasize what a hypocrite he is.

  1. We cannot vote for this pathological liar and we certainly are not voting for Clinton, therefore our decision is that we will vote for Gary Johnson and Gov. Weld. Both Clinton and Trump are 2 very flawed candidates and in case nobody is listening, Trump’s federal fraud RICO racketeering case starts directly after the November elections. If convicted Mr.. Trump will not be able to pass a federal jobs application! Also, Mr, Trump refuses to produce his income tax returns which is a prerequisite for being nominated for the republican nomination.
Mr. Krieger this commentary is sponsored thru the Libertarian Party, if you feel Trump should be the nominee then why make comments on a Libertarian commentary as to not vote for Johnson or Stein?

  2. p.s.- Mr. Trump has insulted almost every minority group in the USA, women, disabled reporters and disabled veterans and the Pope. The only persons Mr. Trump has not insulted are the Native Alaskan Eskimos, let’s just hope he does not travel there and figure that one out he’ll be in company with his moronic buddy Sarah Palin.
Also, the fact that he refuses to produce his income tax should throw a red flag up for everybody, this is a question that has to be asked and enforce the same rules on Trump. Mr. Trump feels that he does not have to follow any rules because he feels everybody is unfair towards him to include the media, according to his moronic views!

    • Go read your Leftist junk at Salon.com. The only females insulted are still Rosie Odonnell, she deserves it and Chief Crazy Eyes; a heartless house flipper in the 1990s. I am not convinced that Trump was laughing at the disability of Serge Kovaleski. He mocked him NOT his disability. Killary Klinton is solely responsible for the deaths of the men in Bengazi. Her dept was responsible. Her dept failed She failed.

Killary refuses to show the world a transcript of her paid speeches to Goldman. Those speeches contain her wisdom for the future. Killary knows that the public would be disgusted but the idiots who love her will still vote for her. I know men going to jail that have done a fraction of the things I read of her.

Trump is the lesser of the two evils

This guy Krieger is a self hating Jew who loves Palestine. I once repleid to me by posting a speech by some left wing Soros paid creep. He just hates Trump because he knows that Killary will provide him with all the scandals he needs to perpetuate his blog

    • You know what man, that’s a really disgusting thing to say to someone who obviously tries his best every day from an honest perspective.

If I cared about money, I would’ve stayed on Wall Street where I was in the fraction of a 1% income level by age 30.

You are a horrible person, go find another blog to read.

    • Just so it is clear to everyone reading this thread, I do not call people horrible human beings lightly.

He claims I responded to his hateful rant earlier this year by posting a Soros paid speech. This is 100% a lie, and you should see for yourself.

Read the comment thread to this post to see what happens. We have two separate exchanges, keep scrolling down to see the second one:

      http://libertyblitzkrieg.com/2016/06/06/jeffrey-sachs-destroys-hillary-clintons-foreign-policy-speech/

This person is a terrible human being.

    • “You know what man, that’s a really disgusting thing to say to someone who obviously tries his best every day from an honest perspective.”

You do. Which is why I respect you so and continue reading, even when we disagree.

I also disagree that Andy & Pallyswine are horrible people.

You must first prove that they are people, and not software-driven bots programmed with political talking points. A challenge, but Pallyswine actually has an edge on Andy there.

Then you must prove that they are intrinsically worse than other people colonized by a political mind-virus. They both seem pretty run of the mill, including the dishonesty. Andy has a strong edge here because he’s respectful of the blog owner in the process. Which is just basic non-autistic social grace.

Political mind viruses produce jerks. But if you look at the spectrum of jerks they can and do produce – insulting a blog owner with untruths barely breaks “1” on the “10” scale. Get someone fired from a job, threaten them, hurt them, kill them… now we’re moving up the scale into “horrible person” territory.

Those sorts of things are either with us already, or probably coming soon and at scale. We’re going to see what “horrible person” really means.

Best not to trivialize the term beforehand.

  3. After following a year of Trump and Hillary, I vote Trump who has physically build his empire, not receiving illicit donations to one’s coffers through public positions.

  4. Hillary’s a war criminal – Perhaps Trump will become one too, we don’t know, but we do know right now Hillary IS a War Criminal.

    soooooooo

-You can vote 3rd Party if it makes you feel good and hope that advances a new party in the future.
    .
-You can stay home, like George Carlin did, if you don’t want to continue supporting this crooked system, feed the beast, send that message.

    -You can write in NOTA.

But from any moral point of view you can not vote for Clinton.

    • Oh, boo hoo for the native Alaskan Eskimos! Poor, sensitive dears! Perhaps a little more political correctness is what we all need; that will solve the rest of the problems that the first wave of PC didn’t!

  5. Verita – vote for who you want – it’s America, but please don’t be so naive to think Trump built his empire on the up and up. True as it may be, he hasn’t taken money for his political campaign from evil-doers and political shady characters, but in construction… er… um… yeah, he openly admits he play the system which also means not getting caught breaking the rules and doing stuff under the table.

So anyways, dirt is dirt and maybe he’ll change the system, after all he says he’s on our side now.

  6. Thank you for ensuring that Clinton will get elected and stack the SCOTUS for the next 40 years. When all your rights are stripped away I hope you feel at peace knowing you voted your “conscience” and didn’t give Trump a vote thereby ensuring we remain slavesc of the Progressives forever. But hey your conscience is clear…right… Explain that to your grandkids.

  7. Kinda confused how a gun lovin’ R Winger could make the choice to help Hillary win, which not or 3rd party voting amounts to.

But it came right at the end…

“He used fear to appeal to low information, low IQ voters”

One of the reasons the polls are wrong btw, the pseudo intellectuals refuse to be seen as low information, low IQ voters.

    Reply
    • I said that the irrational fear peddling not based in fact was “to appeal to low information, low IQ voters.”

I also said he addressed real issues as well, for the informed amongst us.

But I’m not a right winger, so I don’t know if that was addressed to me or not.

I agree polls are wrong, and I agree it’s because a large amount of people will not admit to voting for Trump.

  8. Everytime I read something new by Krieger I am impressed more. I May not agree with him, but he is thoughful and fair. No one, NO ONE, is unbiased. Krieger does a really fine job, however, of trying to see things the way they are, and not just the way he is. Unlike some of the more votriolic comments on this thread, he is rational and thoughtful. He’s stayed away from the “Herd Poisoning.” Would love to have a beer with the old boy and just see where the conversation leads. Take er easy!

  9. Think of what Trump has to appeal to to win.

Six million or so years of behavioral adaptations that promoted survival of the tribe/settlement by suppressing aggression within the tribe/settlement while directing that aggression outwards towards competing tribes/settlements. Ingroup-outgroup morality – a big survival ploy since all of us are here because of it.

In these hostile times us versus them works (brexit) and appeals to other moral or survival behaviors are less important.

Trump must play up Clinton’s dangerously (WW3 anyone?) aggressive foreign policy while offering a sufficiently sane but still aggressive policy. This revolves around taking Russia off the enemies list and focusing on real bad guys – which simply makes sense.

  10. Do we actually believe voting for any candidate actually produces anything but more of the same bullshit, I’ll vote for him, she’ll vote for her, he’ll vote for the third party, really!!! Come the fuck on guys, geeezz. One President (10,000 cronies) commanding 300+ million = fucking stupid. I vote for self governing, self responsible, self empowered , willfully cooperative human beings that don’t have to identify with some stupid fucking team/herd mentality (pipe dream I know). I vote for decentralization, noncompliant, non-participation in this bullshit, production robbing, life sucking, fraud riddled machine. Stick your votes up your ass and being that your heads are up there to you should all feel some sort of comfort voting for the next douche bag. If your vagina is hurt , don’t worry I’m just fucking with you. Thanks Mike I always enjoy reading your posts and the following comments.

  11. Michael, truly great analysis. I was previously enthusiastic for Trump because he seemed to be a maverick. However since the beginning of the RNC I’ve changed my mind. First of all the speech of Mrs. Trump was really pathetic because it was a plagiarized speech of Michele Obama from 2008. You’d think with all the billions that Trump has he couldn’t have hired at minimum wage a high school valedictorian to write a better speech than that dribble. If he wants to make America great again he should first make his wife’s speech great. But of course this was just a relatively trivial aspect I know. The first speech that really upset me was the one by MIchael Flynn who was critical of Obama’s war on terror because it was a phony one. Flynn even exposed the fact that Obama actually created ISIS. So excitedly anticipating Flynn and hoping for a breath of fresh air I was disappointed and shocked to hear what Flynn would say. Hands down it was the most crappy speech I have ever heard on foreign policy. I really mean it. It was full of bullshit jingoism and all of the “we’re the exceptional nation” crap you hear from both sides of the aisle. Like Trump, Flynn implicitly criticized Obama for not following through on his red line regarding not attacking Syria in 2013 for the poison gas attack which we now know was done by the anti-Assad forces. So expect a Trump-Flynn administration to be even worse than Obama in the middle East and especially towards Iran. It was a truly revolting speech.

Now onto Trump. I don’t have much to add to your excellent analysis except on two points. He criticizes Obama for selling out to Iran. Well Trump, you idiot, those 100’s of billions of dollars was stolen from Iran by the US many years ago. Maybe Trump you should do your history and find out what the US did to the Iranian people in supporting the Shah since the US overthrew the democratically elected leader in 1953. When somebody steals money from another person, the thief has to return the money, period. You don’t make deals, you just return what is rightfully theirs. You get it Trump.

The second observation of Trump is this. His style, his mean demeanor and his pomposity reminds me of one historical person: Benito Mussolini. Mussolini’s claim to fame was that he was going to make the trains run on time. Trump will make the country run efficiently. You see the similarity. If not watch his speech again and tell me if he doesn’t remind you of the Italian dictator. By the way I think someone should hire a great impersonator to do of Trump what Charlie Chaplin did of Mussolini in the Great Dictator. It could be a way of reaching a lot of people on the danger of Trump. Humor is always great.

Sorry for the long winded post. I just wanted to express my feelings. Trump is a very dangerous man and truly in the full meaning of the word a fascist. I think Jill Stein is the one I may support.

People need to turn away from the broken political system and start supporting their neighborhoods in ways that will be helpful in the future to create change. If you don’t like a product stop buying it – stop buying into the ‘vote’, stop using US dollars if you don’t like the bankers, stop buying goods from other countries, etc…

  14. This is for those that think that Hillary Clinton is a war criminal, Mr. Trump stated and I quote ‘WE WILL BOMB THE SHIT OUT OF ISIS AND COMPANY TO INCLUDE TAKING OUT THE WOMEN AND CHILDREN OF SAME”. This constitutes treason and by the way places our troops in the mid-east in harms way. Secondly, Mr. Trump also stated that he would only protect those countries that pay up their fare share, this my friends is an invitation for Vladimir Putin and his military to attack NATO countries whom have not paid “their fare share”, this in itself is dangerous and completely moronic by every sense of the word. Every time Mr. Trump opens his mouth, he says something stupid, insults somebody or and only takes opinions and advice from his children. He lends money to his campaign, then pays the “majority” to his siblings (what a character). Most recently during the debates he allegedly had a marathon for veterans organizations, if it were not for the news agencies Mr. Trump had not released the funds! This should tell you what kind of a person he truly is.
Mr. Trump refused Unions in his Nevada Casinos, which this should tell you he is an enemy of the working class “not a voice and certainly will not back you and I”, and stated Americans are overpaid and need to work alittle harder.
Lastly, besides Mr. Trump refusing to produce his income taxes, he stated his tax plan for the USA citizens being 25% rich/corporations, 15% middle income families and 10% for lower income families. Mr. Trump is at a 37% tax bracket if I am not mistaken (although we all know he does not show his income taxes because he does not pay taxes like the rest of us) which would reduce his own taxes by 12%, middle income already pays out between 15-20% therefore he is not doing me any favors and 10% for lower income is unfathomable, just think if a citizen makes 13-15,000 per year would have to pay well over 1,500 in taxes.
Ladies and gentlemen, if Mr. Trump’s insults, racist rhetoric and character assassination were not enough, maybe you’ll also believe that Mr. Trump according to his family this week at the convention stated that Mr. Trump lives at the foot of the cross! (what a laugh).
Mr. Trump is temperamentally unfit for the job, he also praises dictators i.e. Saddam Hussein and Vladimir Putin, and says they do good jobs and keep their people safe! This should tell you something about his demeanor and his character. Mr. Trump speaks in a totally irresponsible and wreckless manner and continues to do so and he continues to insult, Senator Warren by calling her Pocahontas and continues to insult Senator Cruz with vulgar and divisive language.Mr. Trump’s only message is to divide the country.
Ted Cruz said it right, vote whom you feel will do the job!

Good as Goldman: Hillary and Wall Street

      by Jeffrey St. Clair

A less paranoid politician would have simply released the tedious transcripts of the speeches on a Friday evening to bore insomniac readers to sleep. The real question, of course, was never about the content of the speeches, but about why Goldman was paying her $225,000 an hour to give them. Goldman executives weren’t huddling around Mrs. Clinton to listen to her recite the obscurantist mish-mash ghost-dictated by her top economic advisor Alan Blinder. Blinder, a well-known Wall Street commodity himself, is a former vice-chair of the Federal Reserve and co-founder of Promontory Interfinancial Network, a regulatory arbitrage outfit whose top executives pocket $30 million a year. Blinder has publicly assured his Wall Street pals that Clinton will not under any circumstances break up the big banks and neither will she seek to reanimate Glass-Steagall, the Depression-era regulatory measure whose exsanguination by her husband enabled the financial looting by firms like Goldman and Lehman Brothers that spurred the global economic collapse of 2008.

When the time came to do the serious business of deregulating the financial sector, Rubin migrated from the shadows of the NEC to become Treasury Secretary, where he oversaw the implementation of NAFTA, the immiseration of the Mexican economy, imposed shock therapy on the struggling Russian economy, blocked the regulation of credit derivatives and gutted Glass-Steagall.

  15. Hello. I am deeply disappointed that your far-fetched, biased, shock-and-awe commentary was reposted on otherwise excellent David Stockman’s Contra Corner.

Excuse me, but Trump appeals to me greatly, and I have an IQ that is off the top end of the Stanford-Binet scale. I would never mention such a trivial fact, since IQ measures only a narrow slice of the cognitive spectrum suited to physicists such as myself, but is not a measure of the most important aspects of human intelligence. Yet you, the author, have brought the petty issue of IQ up in order to cast emotionally charged insults at those who see the clear value of a Trump presidency.

You mention Trump’s “fear” mongering. Yet look at the neocon opposition, who purports that Russia, of all countries, is a mortal threat to Europe. Trump does not promote fear of Russia. Does his reasonable foreign policy not appeal to you?

    Reply
    • I said that the irrational fear peddling not based in fact was “to appeal to low information, low IQ voters.”

I also said he addressed real issues as well, for the informed amongst us.

His foreign policy in some regards seems more sane than Clinton’s. It’s not as if I haven’t written about the dangers of neocon Clinton’s foreign policy on at least 10-15 occasions.

  16. Michael,

That was a fine piece of writing, perhaps the best political piece I have seen this season. It particularly pleased me to see you use “Brave New World Revisited”, a book that informed my worldview over fifty years ago.

    You inspired me to respond.

First, who is talking. I was a Chicago trained economist from the heydey of neoliberalism in the 70’s. Didn’t buy it then, don’t now. I have traveled close enough to the corridors of power to see some of the masters of the universe in action.

Now retired, I am heavily invested in precious metals and have a dim view of the outcome of our financially engineered economy.

It often embarrasses me, the company I keep on the internet. Any site that uses the term “false flag” or code words for the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, ie. “Rothschilds” and “Soros”, has contributed to our current fascist-ready environment.

I too like Jill Stein. There isn’t a lot of her policy that I oppose. However, there are two words I want to say to you, RALPH NADER.

Edmund Burke said “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

Voting for Jill Stein (or staying home) is doing nothing, in my opinion.

I detest Hillary, but I am going to vote for her.

I am not voting for her. I am voting for the continuity of democratic government, no matter how flawed.

Also, I am not voting for Hillary as my leader, but as the leader of a party that includes a great many politicians I like and many I don’t. There will be the sort of checks on her behavior that may not exist for Trump.

Further there are issues like the supreme court. Ruth Ginsberg is not going to live forever.

So I appeal to you as an act of political and personal maturity to vote for that prissy shicksa from Park Ridge, Illinois.

    Thank you.

    Reply
    • Steven, thank you for both taking the time and your kind words. To your point at the end, there is absolutely no chance I could ever consider voting for Hillary Clinton. She stands for everything I am against, not to mention that a vote for her would indeed be a vote for militarism, war and death all over the world. That is her track record, and I will not enable guaranteed bloodshed by supporting her candidacy.

I will not be voting for Trump or Clinton because on the issues that matter dearly to me, neither one of them checks off nearly enough boxes. I have written about how voting 3rd Party does not mean you are “throwing away your vote” on various occasions, but here is an excerpt from a recent post:

Don’t tell me that I’m “throwing my vote away.” Throwing my vote away would be checking a box next to a name I don’t believe in and have very little agreement with just to stop the other person. I have too much self-respect to play that game. More importantly, how has the lesser of two evils worked out for America over the past several decades?

I’m done playing their games. I’m either not voting or I’m voting my 3rd party conscience. That way I don’t get emotionally and spiritually duped and I am prepared for the long fight ahead, against any horrific policies that come in the next 4 years, whether they emanate from Trump or Clinton.

  17. Doesn’t matter who wins – neither side bodes well. However, I have $100 riding on Trump – made that bet 2 months ago.

Hillary is tone deaf – her asinine TV ads (children watching Trump) appeal to no one. It’s as if she wants to lose.

  18. Sorry but you must be listening to another candidate because Trump had a difficult time at the debates and could barely answer any of the questions. He continues to make statements that do not make sense, does not consult professionals before speaking and all he does is listen to his children and pay them the lion share of the money he lends his campaign. Therefore, what planet are you talking about and what candidate are you talking about? Donald Trump is only good for making racist rhetoric and insulting people when cornered on questions.
I cannot understand what is appealing, as he hates unions therefore this makes him anti-worker and invokes eminent domain on 74 yr. old women and is facing 3 federal fraud charges for racketeering. If you haven’t noticed by now he appears to look as if he is impatient, has commented several times that he wants Hillary Clinton in jail, so that the election could happen today and we whom do think know why?
The reasons are he wants the presidency because the walls are closing in around him and he wants to “pardon himself”.
Also, if he is such an honest man, why does he not produce his income taxes for public view, what exactly is he truly hiding from the public? Has he paid his fare share like the rest of us or is he hiding something??????
Bottom line, your candidate Donald J. TDump is as dishonest as they come and loves to label people, because he looks at them in his own image!

  19. p.s.- Donald Trump should be locked up for making treasonous remarks about “bombing the shit out of ISIS and killing their families i.e. women and children”, the only serves to place American Troops in the Mid-East in harms way for atrocities to be done to American Troops. Also, commented about waterboarding the enemy which is against the Geneva Convention.
Bottom line, Donald Trump is temperamentally unfit and totally unqualified for the job, Sen. Elizabeth Warren said it right, Trump is nothing more than a low life , money grubber with hateful behavior towards innocent people!
Mr. Schwarz, the democrats are preparing themselves for Donald Trump and his moronic commentaries and will be ready for him very soon. Just remember he screwed thousands of contractors, employees and screwed them big in NJ and declared bankruptcy 6 times (when he had money in the bank to pay for the bills). like I said if I can figure it out, the Democratic Party will have a field day on Trump next week and afterwards too! Donald Trump needs to stop the name calling and insults and focus on a clear message that has subject matter and solutions to the problem, if he were any more of a manager (and he apparently is not), he would have figured it out a long time ago! Just like the Trump supporters, they have not figured it out that all the is guy wants to do is lower taxes for the rich and pardon himself from any prosecution “past or present”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Mr. D- your comments are totally incorrect and do not make sense. Show me once where I endorsed Hillary Clinton? Not once, we are Libertarians and plan to vote for Gary Johnson and Gov. Weld.
Both Clinton and Trump are flawed candidates (I must have said this approx. 50 times), therefore I must ask you, is English your second language or are you making believe because you truly are a Trump supporter but don’t want anybody to know?
If you say that the country should remove them and theirs because of their views why don’t we start with the ancestors of slavery, or maybe the massacre at Wounded Knee and it go’s on and on? Again, your comments are in my opinion totally uncalled for as I am a Viet Nam Era veteran (5 Honorable Discharges), how many times have you served this country? I can almost answer the question for you. I have a right to speak and make a comment as Trump never served one day in the military much less with his ignorant comments and placing American Troops in harms way and the fact that he is facing a 3 state federal fraud racketeering RICO charges coming soon after November 8th election.
Also, do you want Trump and the rich to continue “not paying their fare share of taxes”? Are you kidding me, this guy is a money grubber.
Advocate for Trump to release his tax returns for public view, he comes up with a lot of lies and rhetoric and refuses to produce his returns, we wonder why?????????

    • we are voting for Gary Johnson! Learn how to read English as you are on a Libertarian reporting commentaries!
As for Trump, he is as bad or worse than what he is, he only knows how to insult others when cornered like the rat he is and gets lower than the NYC sewer system. If ever there was a candidate that should be scrutinized is Donald j. Trump. His fraud cases are forthcoming in November.

  21. We the people are doomed whether Trump or Hillary is elected. I will vote for the candidate that will dismantle the Federal Reserve. Anyone knows who this candidate maybe?

    Reply
    • Jill Stein is the only candidate left talking about fixing corruption in financial institutions, but she hasn’t specifically called for dismantling the Federal reserve (as far as I know). I plan to vote for her and organize pressure for her to do just that. Candidates will do what we pressure them to do as long as we make our voice heard.

  22. It takes liberals to create a refugee crisis.
What country are we going to bomb back into the stone age this week?

We are very squeamish about offensive language.
We don’t mind dropping bombs and ripping people apart with red hot shrapnel.
    We are liberals.

Liberal sensibilities were on display in the film “Apocalypse Now”.

Liberals are like the English upper class – outward sophistication hiding the psychopath underneath.
They were renowned for their brutality towards slaves, the colonies and the English working class (men, women and children) but terribly sophisticated when with their own.

Are you a bad language sort of person – Trump
Or a liberal, psychopath, empire builder – Clinton

    • Mr. ???- We are voting for Gary Johnson, am not a liberal, I’ve been a registered republican and now a registered Libertarian (3 months) since I was 18 yrs old, I am now 62 yrs old. I support the party of Lincoln, not the party of an outright racist bigot like Donald Trump who will say anything to get elected.
The party of Lincoln is the party of hope and prosperity for “all” citizens, not just for some.

    • Since real median wages in the US haven’t risen since the 1970s, I didn’t think anyone cared about prosperity for all in the US.

    • Sorry but refugees from other countries have been let in by Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Obama also over one million Viet Namese were brought here when Saigon fell this was done by Nixon. Learn your history and stop being a hate monger like Donald Jerkweed Ttrump!

  23. After 30 years of living inside the Beltway and getting to know the powerful people on a personal level I’ll take Mr. Trump. Embrace the peaceful revolution for real change and some hope for the future. The kind of leadership Hillary/Huma will provide will lead us into CW II, an exchange of cities with Mr. Putin, or the suitcase from Allah. Most people have no comprehension how sick our leadership is from both parties.

  24. Your rhetoric is as distorted as Donald Trumps message. People do what people say. If you choose a good leader (not trump or Clinton) things will change, if you choose a 3rd party then, it will tell the other two a message to shape up or ship out!
The only persons promoting another civil war are people like yourself whom have “zero solutions”, you like for instance “Trump” whom offers a lot but ‘never” says how and why? .Unless, you’ve been living underneath a rock and are not tuned in to the news, there appears to be a problem with the police throughout the USA when it comes to use of excessive force i.e. Garner in Staten You gotta be joking me. Island NY for selling cigarettes out in public and being strangled to death for a petty offense and the gentlemen in South Carolina while running was shot in the back several times because he was behind on child support,
I suppose if this was done to your family, you would sit down and say “great work officers”! You gotta be joking me……
Like I said, are there problems in the USA? Yes their are and we “ALL” need to focus on the problems and come up with constructive solutions to those problems so that they do not happen again. Offering constructive advice and solutions is the answer, not more rhetoric that makes little or no sense.

  25. p.s. Mr. ArmyStaff- the above caption reads Donald Trumps speech and why you will not vote for him.
Our reply to said caption, “There is no way in hell that we (my wife and I) would vote for a scumbag racist/bigot like Donald Trump, just because he received the nomination for the republican party, does not mean that this moron lives at the foot of the cross like his children portrayed him during the convention”!
If he is not a bigot/racist like his supporters say, then why is it that his list of 17 judges that he submitted to the RNC for the Supreme Court, exclude “zero minorities to include zero African Americans, zero Hispanics and or even a Native American or Native Alaskan Eskimo from Alaska or Asians”?
Secondly, why does Donald Trump continue to refuse to provide his income taxes for public scrutiny?
Lastly, why did Donald Trump insult a sitting judge born in Indiana about his heritage that is presiding over his Federal RICO racketeering charges in 3 states and offending every Hispanic in the country with his racist message?
Answer is: Donald Trump is impatient because he wants Hillary Clinton locked up so according to him, “have the election done today so he can get started” because the walls around him are closing in on him and the thought of federal charges with either a felony or high misdemeanor would exclude him from being able to file a federal job application. Also, Trump wants to be totally in charge so that he can “PARDON HIMSELF from any prosecution past or present to include his children in the event they go rogue at any point by committing crimes against the citizens of this country i.e. robbing the treasury, making deals behind the construction of the berlin wall he wants to build. This is why he chose that weakling Pence.
Strongly suggest you study this creep before making statements about the other candidates as they are angels in comparison to this moron Trump!

There is no short term fix. As long as we are under the capitalist economic system we are screwed. Under an economic system that not only allows but encourages massive amounts of wealth to be concentrated in a few hands I feel it is childish to expect anything but what we have today.

  26. Michael Krieger,

David Brooks made a very similar observation about Trump’s acceptance speech. It was along the lines of what’s all this talk of law and order when crime statistics haven’t been better in years?

This comes off as a tad disingenuous when the media’s bread and butter comes from tirelessly whipping everyone into a frenzy over BLM protests, lone-wolf shootings, and the endless threat of big-bad terrorism—all threats that seem to leave people unsafe no matter where they are or where they go.

Some might even characterize this as playing both sides against the middle. We have the media spending so much time crying wolf—then when someone comes along with a potential solution—the next thing we hear is the media saying “Problem? We don’t have no stinkin’ problem!”
Are you trying to be a dictator or something…?

Come on, you’re not being serious are you?

What Trump did was very smart. He simply preempted Hillary’s attempt to
tell us all for the hundredth time that she is the right person to answer the phone in the White House when it rings at 3:00 AM. As long as no one mentions Benghazi, maybe she can role out that old chestnut once again.

    Reply
    • I’m being totally serious. By the way, I mentioned the media irrationally hypes up the fear. I also agree that it polarizes people.

That doesn’t mean that Trump wasn’t also exaggerating irrational fears largely fanned by the media by focusing on marginal issues and not once mentioning financial criminals who hurt tens of millions every day.

I also never said what he did from a political standpoint wasn’t smart. I was saying it was unethical.

That was my point, and I thought I made it pretty clearly.

  27. Michael, it would be a very good idea to write a piece on the Hegelian Dialectic. As that is all that matters, and almost all of these comments are classic examples of the dialectic working perfectly.

We all know that the next president is either going to be named Clinton or Trump, and nothing of any real consequence will change as a result.

The only way to escape the dialectic is first and foremost to understand how it works. Then you have to remove yourself from the thesis versus anti-thesis dynamic. And the only way to do that it to stop voting, period.

That is their worst nightmare come true.

  28. Nick, whether or not Hillary Clinton supports TPP is a no brainer. The republican Party drafted what is called NAFTA, it was left on the desk and a democrat signed it. TPP (trans pacific partnership) is supported by all of the parties. This country is not an isolationist country, it has always traded with other countries, and furthermore the reasons companies/corporations are leaving is because of the stringent laws here, unions wanting 15-20 dollars an hour, health benefits that are quite expensive and continuous pressure from civil rights lawsuits and etc..
Bottom line is America can compete if we were all on a level playing field but we are not. American business owners are there to make a profit for themselves and there shareholders. More and more business’ in America are folding because they cannot compete, i.e. China pays their employees 65 cents an hr., Viet-Nam pays 65 cents and hour and Mexico is now up to 2-3 dollars per hour. Our city just lost another large business that went to Mexico whereas we lost 320 jobs.
Our economy has got to settle down and make our economy level and demand from other countries that they do the same. Donald Trump is not that person as many countries have already declined to deal with him, and last we know, none of the companies and corporations that have left are dying to come back, actually they are now leaving in droves!
Your candidate Donald Trump has lost numerous contracts in the middle east “for building large golf courses” because of his anti-mulim and anti-minority stance. Strongly suggest you study this guy Trump and you’ll see he is just what he was painted as a “CON-MAN”.
p.s.- why does he not produce his income taxes? Something to hide? His federal RICO Racketeering case is coming soon right after the November 8th elections, Trump was hoping to push past January so he could pardon himself……………Guess his scare tactics against that judge did not work.

Secondly, there are Laws in place like NAFTA and TPP mostly written by republicans will be in place before our next president is elected, therefore, don’t be fooled by Trump’s moronic comments that are used to garner votes, and listen to hard facts.
Owning a business in the USA is difficult because small businesses will be crushed with tax burdens and health care burdens. Same for large corporations, they are being crushed with laws, health care and etc.. The entire problem is we have generous entitlements in this country and also a generosity towards other countries whom we give economic aid and most is being robbed by these crooked 3rd world country hierarchy. It must stop, and the corruption here must stop, and it will not stop by sending another person whom has been in cohoots with the majority of the political figures and now acts as if he is an enemy of same!
p.s.- let’s ask Trump for his tax returns, he continues to refuse turning them over. What is he hiding?

    • Nick, I like your response but take a look at Trump’s proposed tax plan, he can’t help it, he is for the rich but these are the numbers:
25% for the rich and corporations
      15% for middle income
      10% for lower income

Trump is at a 38% tax bracket, I am a middle income retiree and I am between 15-18% mostly 15% and 10% for lower income is not even acceptable. He did me “no favors”.

Why would anybody whom works for a living want to give Trump and his family a 13% reduction in their taxes?

C’mon folks, this is a no brainer, this guy Trump has not paid taxes and gets away with it, bankrupt 6 times when he had plenty of cash in the bank and now wants the presidency so he can enrich himself further, I’m sure you guys all know that Trump’s children will be all over the government trying to find out who and where they can scam more money! Especially building a wall, his family will be all over this project!

Wake up and smell the coffee America, this guy Trump is a con-man!

We cannot compete because of the tax, health care and salaries/benefits in the USA making the bottom line for corporations “not so profitable”. Donald Trump has made so many insulting comments that many of his clients especially in the middle east have cancelled their contracts with the Trump organization. Mr. Trump has angered his own party and are now hostile towards him, are you saying that Mr. Trump will wave a magic wand and all will be hunky dory? Nothing will change, Trump is looking for one thing and that is ‘get elected so that he can pardon himself from any prosecution from the law” and yes this includes his bloodsucking children too! Don’t be fooled by this moron, he is a con man, Mayor Bloomberg said it best “he knows a con man when he sees one”!!!!!!!

p.s.- You are better off advocating to see Trump’s tax returns that he continues to refuse to show. Good luck on his tax returns.

    • Genaro, you must be living in trump land, TPP is only a mist right now and has not been brought before congress or the senate.
Secondly, this country has had trade agreements since and before I was born and will continue to do so. Most of the trade agreements written and signed were done by “rich people” to favor the rich. I am 62 yrs old and a viet-nam era veteran.
Therefore, why would you want to put a rich person in the white house who clearly even by his ridiculous tax plan that only favors the rich and his family?
One of the commentaries today it was mentioned that Donald Trump would like to put Ivanka Trump in one of the cabinet positions. Talk about nepotism!
Genaro, do us a favor and go back to school and learn something other than “brainwashing”, which you apparently are because all Donald Trump does is insult people, and speak about this country being shit and all of it’s leaders being incompetent and disparages women, the Pope & etc. w/exception of him of course as he has some sort of mental problem that he is the only person that can fix things when he can not even control his ‘BIG MOUTH”.
I submit to you, Donald Trump whom is unfit to be the POTUS should be running for one job and that is “Sewage Treatment Management” because all he is good for is talking manure! Therefore, the only Troll here is you!!!

p.s.- tell your racist/moronic candidate Trump to turn over his income taxes, what is he hiding?

  31. Mr. Sounds of the sewer system- Mr. Trump has made comments that are called “TREASON”, by spewing his hateful message that he would bomb the shit out of ISIS and kill their women and children, “PLACES ALL AMERICAN TROOPS IN THE MID-EAST IN HARMS WAY”.
Apparently, your level of education does not permit you to understand that many have been killed already as a result of Mr. Trump’s angry rhetoric. He furthers his comments by saying he will stop Muslims from coming to the USA which plays right into the hands of ISIS, then makes comments that he will defend NATO if they don’t pay their fare share! Then he insults disabled POW veterans. (Citizens in the mid-east have satellite TV and listen to Trump’s rhetoric and racially motivated speeches).
Are you kidding me or are you just making believe? Also, Trump is facing a 3 state Federal RICO Fraud case in which he tried to use scare tactics against a judge born in Indiana, then he submits a list of 17 judges to the RNC which he would assign/promote to the supreme court “all white” (which excludes all minorities), this is his idea of being a fair person!
I’m sure that you will lie like the rest and say no it’s because he will bring jobs back, when in actuality, he can’t bring back any jobs back because NAFTA is already in place.
Like I said you must be on another planet if you think that Trump and his bloodsucking children aren’t going to clean up with the USA when it’s over with and they’ll be waving the flag as if they are patriotic when none of them have ever served one day in the military.
Also, Trump’s buddy Vladimir Putin is rooting for Trump and his 2nd mail order bride from Russia………..
Bottom line, Trump will sink this country like a rock thrown in a pond, and in the event you did not know this but Trump’s mother is not American born, this is strange after he seeks to destroy Obama and his American born mom and Ted Cruz and his American born mom……….

  32. Mr. D- We can assume the D stands for “dummy or delinquent”, anyway, in response to your reply about taking out the enemy and their families. First, you “do not” tell your enemies what you are going to do before doing so! This only serves to embolden the enemy whereas they will commit atrocities against our troops, and Mr. Trump has irresponsibly done so and repeatedly over and over to include today on national TV. He also mentioned today on TV 7/27/16 that he is for enhanced interrogation (against the Geneva Convention).
In the event your brains are not working up to par, the mid-east population also have satellite and satellite technology and are listening to this irresponsible tone of language on the part of this moron Trump.
Are you stupid or are you just making believe? I should ask or are you one of the Trump supporters that believes every lie out of Trump’s mouth? Like today whereas Trump stated more than 3 times that Mr. Kaine was the mayor of New Jersey, one of the reporters finally told Mr. Trump that Mr. Kaine was the Mayor of Richmond VA. Bottom line, Trump is a blithering Moron with zero concept of the political process and should stick to running for “Sewage Treatment Specialist” cause all he talks is manure………

  33. Mr. Mpower- Trump has contradicted himself way more that a half a dozen times. Just last week he commented 3 times at a rally that Tim Kaine VP pick for Clinton was Mayor of New Jersey, a reporter had to point out to him that Mr. Kaine was the former Mayor of Richmond Virginia. Mr. Trump speaks before he speaks to anybody for advice because according to him “he is very intelligent”.
Sorry to tell him but everybody I speak to says he is a dummy! On todays news they said he might not make the scheduled debates, I wonder why?
Also, Trump continues to refuse to turn over his income taxes, we wonder why? Is he hiding something or is he waiting til 2 days before the election to turn them in so that they can’t be scrutinized in a timely manner???????

p.s.- we wonder why he asked for 4 deferments during the viet-nam war but fails to mention same? So he chickened out while I had to report and serve 3 years of my life. This Trump is a con-man plain and simple, and this country needs to wake up and smell the coffee.

  34. Niick- we have many trade agreements and most were written by republicans. If you recall NAFTA was written by George Bush Sr. and signed by Bill Clinton. TPP has been mostly a republican law they want passed in addition to including democrats. Does it bother you that Trump said several months ago “Americans presently make to much money, I feel they should try and work alittle harder” he also said “NO Minimum wage increase”. Recently he changed his mind again, because as we all know Trump will say anything to get elected! Anyway, Mr. Trump is facing a 3 state Federal RICO racketeering fraud case right after the elections. Hopefully, he will be tried and convicted and this country can move forward in a positive manner vs. the negative rhetoric from Trump.
I would like to add if you believe that Trump will bring jobs back then you must believe in the tooth ferry! First is nobody has heard any corporation or company that has moved out to China, Viet-Nam or Mexico that wants to come back, China and Viet-Nam’s pay per hour is 65 cents per hour with no benefits, Mexico pays 2-3 dollars per hour with no benefits. Again, there is not one company that wants to come back and pay all of the benefits and perks and that wish to have Unions breathing down their backs for every little thing because Donald Trump is going to wave a magic wand and bring all of those jobs back as he is saying! I can bet this too, TPP will pass before Trump gets in “if” he gets in office because, they and the rest of us know that Trump is nothing more than a greedy money grubber that is for him and his blood sucking children! Our small city has just lost another plant named McQuade Industries whereas 320 employees were let go. In the event you’ve not changed the batteries in your hearing aids, more are leaving as they are anti-Trump and believe that he will interfere into their business’. Taxing businesses and citizens, while giving tax breaks to the rich and corporations is not the way. (ask Trump, he refuses to turn over his income taxes and we wonder why?) If you do not believe me look at Trumps tax plan it favors the rich and screws the middle and lower incomes, He calls it 25% for the rich/corporations, 15% for the middle class and 10% for lower income. If you can live with giving Trump a 12% or more reduction, then by all means vote for that moron! By the way Trump is at a 37% bracket but as we all know, he skates out every year out of paying his fair share like the rest of us.
YOU MUST BE JOKING ME? ARE YOU THAT BRAIN WASHED? Stop some of the entitlements and curb sending economic aid to corrupt countries around the world and put citizens to work here in the USA and stamp out political corruption and maybe we can resolve some of the problems. Trump is not part of the solution but part of the problem, he has supported Schumer, Weiner, Pelosi, Reid, Clinton and he himself has been a democrat 98% of his life, therefore he is not a republican nor from the party of Lincoln.

  35. Mr. Pally’s wine, you are totally brainwashed by Trump and his what you call message and the rest of us call it jiberish/trash and him talking about money he made on the sales of homes and his negative message, everything but repairing the economy and all of the other problems in the USA.
This man has not made any sense since he started, continues to do the same, his own party is angered at him because of his behavior, and Trump continues to refuse to produce his income taxes. His most recent action on 7.27.16 whereas Trump asked the Russians to conduct espionage on another American running for POTUS and his disparaging of War Hero Capt. Humayan Khan’s family clearly show an unstable candidate, The media constantly informs us of the poll numbers and breakdowns of same and speaks of Trump’s favor with the less educated, are you one of them?
Your candidate is facing a federal RICO racketeering fraud case in November right after the elections, he won’t even be able to file a federal jobs application. My question to you is, are you stupid or are you just making believe?
Strongly urge you get off welfare and food stamps and get a GED diploma and run for a job that Mr. Trump is truly qualified for called “Sewage Treatment Management”, because all he is good for is talking manure!!!!!!!

p.s.- check out Trump’s ridiculous tax plan for America, it only favors the rich. Again, were you born in a wind tunnel or are you always this stupid?

  36. The old divide between left and right, republican and democrat, is obsolete. What we have now is a divide between neoliberals and those that believe in the nation state. Neoliberals believe in rent-taking and favor creditors over debtors, employers over employees. They also favor free trade and the diminution of the nation state. They favor international agreements and treaties as a way of merging business models, finances, and management of resources, including people and cultures. They enjoy support across traditional party lines because they support the financialization of business and the application of market principles to any and everything. While there is some crossover in this confusing time we live in, nation-staters, for the most part, don’t favor these things, at least not to the extent neoliberals do. In particular, nation-staters are opposed to unregulated, unfettered rent-taking and tend to be skeptical of Wall Street and international bodies. Trump leans more in the direction of the nation-staters. Clinton, most of the Republican candidates, and Libertarians are neoliberals. Libertarians balk at the idea of having the government rescue parties from losses due to bad or risky investments (see TARP) but, in the end, they side with neoliberals because they see no problem with unregulated derivatives or the financialization of the economy and rent-seeking — at least as long as government does not rescue economic agents from the consequences of bad decisions. Sanders and Stein are socialists of a kind, sort of John Rawls meets Keynes. As a result, neither will be effective in terms of policy changes since the neoliberals are in charge. Of course, if Trump were elected, he, too, would be unlikely to fundamentally change the neoliberal orientation of the country (and world). What he might be able to do, however, is delay the rise and complete dominance of a technocratic elite imperative that will kill the nation state once and for all, paving the way for the slow, steady decline of the US from which it will never recover.

    • Thank you for that extremely valuable narrative but bottom line is, Trump has insulted his way to the nomination. By virtue of his barrage of non-sense out of his mouth, we venture to say that he is totally unqualified for the job. By virtue of using inflammatory language towards minorities, women, disabled veterans, disabled reporters & African Americans, Trump has allowed the trash crawl out from underneath the whale manure they were hiding under and have conjoined like flies over manure to back up this hostile, racist candidate. It is unfortunate that this has happened and that the American public has stood by to all of Trump and his nest of viper children (whom couldn’t find or work a full time job @ Burger King) take over this government. This is a sad day in America for all Americans.
p.s.- mark my words, this guy Trump has other reasons for running for POTUS and he appears desperate, some of us believe the walls are closing in on him and he wants the presidency so he can pardon himself. Reminder, Trump has a federal RICO racketeering fraud case that starts directly after the November 8th, and he has “Zero Rights” to be calling Hillary Clinton or anybody else “crooked”!………….
Also, he refuses to turn over his income taxes, and puts up excuses that he is under audit, and there is no reason that he cannot turn over previous years til his alleged audit is complete. What is he waiting for “2 days before the elections”????????
