Welcome to the Recovery – Two Out of Five American Children Experience Poverty

The last seven years of American history will be remembered for the unprecedented oligarch crime scene that it is. Branding what has occurred during the Obama administration an “economic recovery,” represents little more than a vicious assault on human intelligence.

I’ve spent a lot of time on these pages proving this to be the case, and have even dubbed it the “oligarch recovery” (see links at the end). Here’s the latest proof.

From the Wall Street Journal:

Childhood poverty is far more prevalent than annual figures suggest, a new paper says, with nearly two in every five U.S. children spending at least one year in poverty before they turn 18 years old.

The findings from Caroline Ratcliffe, a senior fellow at the Urban Institute, show particularly stark divides along racial lines. Black children fare much worse. Some 75% are poor at some point during their childhood, compared to 30% of white children.

Don’t worry, Obama will be on it as soon as he’s done bailing out Wall Street billionaires.

The Census Bureau is set to release its annual statistics next week on household incomes and poverty for 2014. Last year, the report showed that one in eight adults live below the poverty line, compared to one in five children.

  1. If 60% of the wealth in America is owned by 2% of the population, and 80% by 10%, and the remaining 20% by the so called “middle class”, who number less than 30%, that means that half of us in America own nothing but our shoes, pants, maybe some plates and silverware. Nothing, in short. This has been how the wealth of America has been “distributed” since the 1890s. The only difference between now and any earlier year is that the pinch is harder now than in recent decades and, for the first time since the 1930s, a not tiny portion of Americans are starting to wake up to these DAMNING FACTS. When the bloodsuckers of the Vampire State bring America down in total ruin and debt slavery under the dictatorship of their plutocracy, or will we find a way to change course? How can we level the table without upsetting dinner? Or will we have to upset dinner? When enough people get hungry enough, things will change, willy nilly. Is that the way we want to go?

    • I disagree. I grew up during the seventies and for our family of three, it was hard on my mom. I remember wearing tennis shoes with holes poked through, from my feet growing, but not my mom’s purse, for months until she could save enough to replace them. The 80’s? Okay a bit better, I worked for pennies on the hour, kept an apartment, ate some days, but not others, due to bills, and I didn’t live above my means at all. Didn’t even own a car! The nineties erupted the CREDIT CARD BOOM rich era, and many were caught up in the scam, that exits to this day, but people were buying. Poverty is a manipulated vicious circle, that ensures governments will be needed.

  2. If people wouldnt have kids it would solve lots of problems. It is hard fo me to take care of me now so I would think you wouldnt want to put a kid thru hard times. That is true love!. You dont have kids to live on welfare. If you cant feed them you dont need them.
