Cop Who Punched Occupy Wall Street Protester Receives $120K Annual Pension from the NYPD

Screen Shot 2014-06-14 at 1.37.52 PMAlthough I have focused a lot of my attention on the systematic mistreatment of the homeless in 2014, this is merely a symptom of a much larger cancer. That is, the very powerful and very rich abusing their status and edge to aggressively dominate and subjugate average citizens.

The manner in which this often manifests is that the full weight of the law bears down with tremendous force on the plebs for the most minor infractions, while the status quo receives blanket immunity from any and all prosecution. I’ve covered several examples of citizens being abused by law enforcement for no good reason on this site in 2014. Some notable examples are:

Hyper-Sensitive Illinois Mayor Orders Police Raid Over Parody Twitter Account

Charleston Man Receives $525 Federal Fine for Failing to Pay for a $0.89 Refill

The “War on Street Artists” – Puppeteer Unlawfully Arrested and Harassed in NYC Subway

Video of the Day – Thuggish Militarized Police Terrorize and SWAT Team Iowa Family

In the case of police, you can forget punishment altogether. Rather, they are often financially rewarded for bad behavior. Let’s not forget that the University of California Davis cop who inappropriately pepper sprayed a line of peaceful, seated protesters received a $38,000 settlement.

Now we find out from Gothamist that:

A cop who sucker-punched an Occupy Wall Street protestor during the movement’s heyday will be earning an annual, three-quarters tax-free disability pension of $120K. The protestor he punched, meanwhile, received a one-time settlement of $55K.

According to the Daily News, Deputy Inspector Johnny Cardona was awarded this chunk of money after the NYPD pension board decided he sustained significant enough injury during the October 2011 confrontation. Cardona was caught on camera punching protester Felix Rivera-Pitre in the face, an action Rivera-Pitre insisted was unprovoked, save for the fact that he “shot the cop a look.”

You be the judge. Watch the video yourself. Do you think this officer deserves a $120,000 per year pension in any way, shape or form?

  1. How do you get so badly injured that you can retire on a disability pension as a result of punching someone else?!? There’s nothing you can do in the course of punching someone else that can result in an honest disability pension. Nothing.

And how the hell does that dumb fascist get $120,000 per year?!? How can that number be right?!? So the middle class is being squeezed out of New York and those remaining get to pay for lying scumbag Cardona to retire in luxury. Oh, yeah, this system is sustainable. Riiiiiiight.

  2. “…rewarded for bad behavior.” I don’t know why Americans don’t believe that it is a police state they live in.

Just read this underground book out that is a must read!! ( http://www.booksbyoliver.com ) that shows Americans starting the 2nd American Revolution.

The “R” word (Revolution) is seen more and more in the headlines (not MSM) that there are no more options left. I recommend it cause it shows what is coming next.

  3. He must of hurt his hand while punching him. Lawyers don’t make that much in retirement and tax payers paying for it no less. There needs to be reform.
