Meet James Biden: The Vice-President’s Crony Capitalist Brother

An all too common tale of 100% pure unadulterated red, white and blue crony capitalism involving our Vice-President’s brother, James Biden, is described in this excellent article by Fox’s Charlie Gasparino.  This story really sums up all that is wrong with America today.  Not only does it involve insider contracts due to political connections, but it involves building homes in Iraq!  So forget construction in the United States, these cronies would rather go bomb another country into the stone age and then reward political hacks with billion dollar contracts to rebuild the mess they created.  Remarkable.

From Fox:

How was it that HillStone, a newcomer in the business of home building, landed a massive and potentially lucrative contract to build 100,000 homes in war-torn Iraq?

Richter didn’t mince words. It really helps, he said, to have “the brother of the vice president as a partner,” according to a person who was present.

The “brother” Richter was referring to during the meeting is James Biden, the younger brother of Vice President Joe Biden.

James Biden, for his part, declined repeated attempts by FOX Business to comment on Iraq and his larger role at Hill, which now includes selling affordable housing developments, particularly in third-world countries.

Having an older brother who’s the vice president certainly has its benefits. Analysts point to some lucrative deals directed to Hill from the federal government, including a $22 million contract awarded to Hill International earlier this month to manage the construction of offices for the State Department.

Biden joined the company just as HillStone was starting its negotiations to win the Iraq deal. Justice believed he had a groundbreaking technology that would be perfect for a war-ravaged country in need of affordable housing: Spraying concrete on wire and steel shells to produce housing that could be shipped quickly and cheaply.

  1. This sounds so eerily familiar to the claims that Halliburton benefited from Dick Cheney being VPOTUS. Not that I’m supporting either of these people, but the parallels are similar.

  2. So, James Biden joined Hill when negotiations had already commenced, he may have had significant relevant technology at his disposal, and he was the brother of the Vice President…does this even come close to Halliburton’s no-bid billion plus contract in Iraq with ex CEO Cheney as VP? If you guys screamed about that also, good for you. If not, you are being just the typical biased sheep you rant about, just biased the other way.

    • What Cheney has done was far worse but lets not kid anyone the whole system is bought and paid for. War/war on drugs/ super pacs.

    • Jim, this repeating drone over a “no bid contract” is infuriating. You just repeat the same old crap that you hear from someplace else and never bother to check it out. Nobody else even wanted to do the work and Halliburton was the only company that even bid on those jobs.
